TheCall of Duty and FIFA games are two of the world's most popular gaming series. Millions of people around the world go out in droves to buy these games and then spend hours playing them online. They find themselves glued to their controllers or keyboards night after night, and spend hours theorizing the best teams or loadouts to play with. These people surely do play games. But in my eyes, they aren't real gamers.

Gamers have a bad reputation in the mainstream media. There is an image that these are basement-dwellers, time-wasters, that gamers are aggressive and find it acceptable to shout slurs over voice chat. However, this is only a small percentage of people who play games. They just happen to be an angry, slur-screaming, online-only vocal minority.

I play games. I consider myself a gamer. As part of that identity, I socialize with other gamers. The vast majority of these people love video games. Gaming is a huge part of their free time, but they also have lives outside of games. They have families, they have jobs, and most of all, they are filled with kindness.

You see, the gaming industry is vast. While a movie-lover might be able to see every new release in a year, it would be impossible for a gamer to do the same. I devour games, I complete about a hundred every year, and yet this year, I didn't play Signalis, or Citizen Sleeper, or God of War Ragnark, among dozens of other games I wanted to try out. There just aren't enough hours in the day. And still, while I can't play every game, I do play a lot of them.

That's not to say that Call of Duty or FIFA are the games that spawn these Doritos-scoffing stereotypes, they are just examples of games that can have this effect. To me though a gamer is someone who loves games, plural, and not someone who focuses all their time and energy on a very tiny section of the gaming library. They are CoD players, or FIFA players, but they are not really gamers.

While I know people might be outraged at this, I don't see the difference between my statement and what other people have been saying for years. How many times have we heard, people who play Candy Crush aren't real gamers? Or those who love Animal Crossing aren't playing a real game? Video games are, of course, for everyone. Anyone can pick up and play a game. But say you love Star Wars, and you watch every film and show that comes out, are you a cinema-goer, or are you simply a Star Wars fan?

There's nothing wrong with only playing FIFA, with having the best FIFA Ultimate Team, with pulling new packs every week, or theory crafting the best teams. But doing all that doesn't make you a gamer. And you don't have to be one, it's not like the word comes with a lot of clout. Then again, you are also free to call yourself whatever you want. I'm not going to call the SWAT team on you.

I have reason to believe the information on this trophy in the current Trophy Guide is incorrect or perhaps outdated. I just unlocked this Trophy today and can, with some degree of certainty, confirm that you do NOT need to max out or even come too close to maxing out the rating of all three positions, defender, midfielder and attacker.

I started out, like most people, switching between all three and levelling them equally up to 79 overall (I did not unlock any skill points). At that point progress became extremely slow and I decided to focus solely on Defender until that position reached 80 overall. Once it did, I played a few more games but did not get the Trophy, however: some people on various message boards claimed to have gotten it that early and a personal friend unlocked it with Defender at 80 and the other two positions at 78 and 79 respectively. Our individual stats were not the same however, as his player was smaller and heavier than mine. As soon as I went into character customization and changed my avatar to match my friends height and weight, the "you've maxed out your stats" message popped, along with the trophy. I did not play a single game after changing height and weight. Neither did I touch either midfielder or attacker for the longest time.

Now, I did start out levelling all three positions equally and so cannot confirm whether you could only focus on one positions right from the start of your Volta Journey, but I certainly did not max all three. Below I will list the stats of my avatar at the exact moment the trophy popped. The difference between my avatar, and my friend's who got the Trophy, was that our agility, balance, acceleration and sprint speed did not match. All other stats were the same. When I refigured my height and weight, those 4 did attributes did still not match his exactly but the trophy popped all the same.

It might be that levelling the other two positions to some base level is necessary but I certainly did not play as many games the the author of the trophy guide on this site and in various other places. When I equip the same skills used in the trophy guide my overalls read as follow: Attacker 82, Midfielder 81, Defender 81. Where as the Guide author had an extra overall point to att. and mid. which I imagine would take upwards of 200 games for me to reach personally.

One extra piece of advice: play as a defender and aim for my exact stats above. I now know of two others who got the tropy at those exact stats/physicals as defender. However I also know of someone who seemed to have some issues with it unlocking when trying to do it as an attacker.

My mistake, I have added the physical stats to the OP and will paste them here as well. I know some people have discussed incresasing specific attributes via doing specific things in-game but I'm not sure if that actually works. I certainly just played and completed games as quickly as possible, often not involving my own avatar at all.

I can't tell you for certain, but if you remember my OP, the trophy unlocked for me as soon as I changed body composition, not after playing a game. I actually played almost all of my games at the lowest possible stats for height and weight. I then changed to the numbers in OP and the trophy popped immediately. Perhaps it's easier to increase physical stats when you are smaller and lighter, but I'm guessing.

I only play as a attacker in volta. After story I maxed out volleys, headers, positioning and shot power. Now It seems I need to do crosses and curve and a trophy will pop. Anyone got idea how to do it in the fastest way ? I'm playing in Rio and 5 whole tournaments gave me less than half bar. It is soooo slow

I played mostly as a striker and midfielder for ages, but once I moved to this height and weight, and then played until the stats were the same as this post it popped, what a relief, and what an awful trophy!

Id like to confirm the original posters stats. Thanks for the help. I got really frustrated towards the end but i realised my crossing stat was only at 73. So i boosted It by playing with my midfielder.

My defender was 80 midfielder 79 and attacker 78. Once the crossing hit 75 i went straight to the height and weight moved it to something different exited and then rendered and put the height and weight as suggested and then got the pop up.

Right now I am in this situation. (crossing stat 73) Just to make sure I can play as a midfielder now and increase my crossing stat then switch back to defender change height and weight to something different than the suggested values and after that change it back to the suggested ones and the trophy should pop?

EDIT: Nevermind i just got the trophy, i was stuck at 73 or 74 crossing not sure, and it seemed there was no progress for about 50 games as a defender, After finishing a game I eventually got disconnected and was not able to access volta for about 5 hours, according to other forum posts this seems to occur if you complete a lot of games in a short period of time. I just got access again and the trophy popped. The overall of your other positions does not seem to matter, midfielder for me is 78 and attacker only 76.

My overall stats are the same, but my long passing and curve stats are off - has anyone any advice for improving these? I tried switching to a midfielder untill the overall passing went up by 2, but when I switched back to a defender it decreased again.

Also, I notice all the video guides show people grinding out wins to get the trophy - I used the much quicker method of scoring own-goals to quickly lose each match, reducing my time in match drastically (6-10 seconds) and eliminating both the annoying cinematic that sometimes plays post-match and the recruitment option, meaning I could spam "X" in-between games.
