About the panel: RocksDB turns 10! To celebrate, we’re bringing together a panel of engineers who helped build RocksDB at Meta, contribute to the open source project, and use RocksDB in production at Databricks, Linkedin, Meta and Rockset.
The panel will discuss the evolution of RocksDB, especially the inflection points and events that made it popular. It will also discuss future innovative ideas to make RocksDB be useful in AI applications as a vector store, feature store, etc.
The panel is moderated by founding engineer Dhruba Borthakur who helped open-source RocksDB at Meta in November 2013 and includes panelists:
Yoshinori Matsunobu, Database Engineer @ Meta: Yoshinori was instrumental in migrating the entire user-database at Meta from MySQL to MyRocks, which has a RocksDB storage engine
Kamlakar Singh, Technologist @ Linkedin: Kamalkar was part of the team that built JunoDB at Paypal which is powered by a RocksDB storage engine
Siying Dong, Software Engineer @ Databricks: Siying built core features of RocksDB as part of the Meta engineering team
Igor Canadi, Founding Engineer and Architect @ Rockset: Igor built core features of RocksDB as part of the Meta engineering team and also helped to open-source RocksDB Cloud at Rockset
