chromecast not working since update to 5.3.88

hi,

i had been using chromecast almost daily without any issues. just upgraded to 5.3.88 in the last hour, reset the app and chromecast no longer works - error message "could not connect to the device". this occurs for all 3 of my chromecast able devices (1x official chromecast audio, 1x jbl link 20 speaker, 1x mibox android tv box)

i can still play the same local music files from my sd card over chromecast using different android apps (such as 'hi fi cast') without any issues, so this is rocket player specific.

I've tried resetting the phone completely, problem still persists.

I'm using moto g5+, android 7.0, 1st june security patch (up to date).

Hi Trev,

I checked this morning and Chromecast support is still working for me and my wife in 5.3.88. I think she is helping you on a support ticket?

this thread has so far been the only communication I've started or received on this issue.

should i open a support ticket? how do i do that - is that the 'email support' option under the help menu in the app?

Yes, that would be the way to open a support ticket.

Also, can you check your "Google Play Services" and make sure they are up to date? I didn't change any of my code for Chromecast, but I did update to the latest Google Play Services library.
