A reign to remember:Mark Her Majesty's 65th year as monarch with a first-year Queen's Beasts Silver Proof!
Queen's Beasts Silver Proof

On February 6, 2017, Great Britain's Queen Elizabeth II officially marked her Sapphire Jubilee, becoming the first British monarch to reign for 65 years.

    Proof Highlights
  • Struck in one-ounce of 99.9% pure silver
  • First design in the new proof series
  • Only 8,500 minted
  • Graded proofs include NGC's exclusive Queen's Beasts label
  • Includes a numbered certificate of authenticity from The Royal Mint and a booklet detailing the history of the
    Queen's Beasts
  • £2 UK legal tender
  • 38.61 mm diameter

Now a spritely 91-year-old, Her Majesty enters the history books as her country's oldest and longest reigning monarch -- surpassing even her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria!

To celebrate the Queen's recent milestone and mark her future legacy, The Royal Mint has issued the first design in a new 10 proof coin series featuring the historic beasts of her realm -- both real and imagined!

From a falcon and a bull to a dragon and a unicorn, each coin in the Queen's Beasts series was inspired by the 10 six-foot-tall sculptures created for Elizabeth II's 1953 coronation ceremony -- animals used for centuries on heraldic badges.

The first in the series is the 2017 Lion Proof -- a bold new interpretation of the Lion of England, re-imagined in one-ounce of 99.9% pure silver by Royal Mint Coin Designer Jody Clark, who also created the fifth and latest portrait of The Queen to appear on United Kingdom coins.

packagingThe lion has been used as a symbol of England since the 12th century -- a centerpiece on the coat of arms of every British sovereign including Richard the Lionheart!

Only 8,500 of this year's Queen's Beasts Silver One-Ounce Lion Proofs have been minted for the entire world. But we've been fortunate to secure a small quantity of ungraded proofs, as well as Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) certified First Releases (FR) in near-perfect Proof 69 (PF69) and perfect Proof 70 (PF70) Ultra Cameo condition -- among the finest struck and released by the mint in the first 30 days of issue!

Order the first design in this noteworthy series now -- with limited supplies available, these majestic silver proofs won't last long!
