re: Upcoming June and July Events of Note

Dear Cub Scouters,

 

Two things coming up to notice:

 

First, we have a sign-up available for units to participate in the Freedom Days EXPO event July 2-5, 2010.  Please take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate the Centennial of Scouting.  The signup sheet is here: http://www.doubleknot.com/form/formjump.asp?bidx=0&surveyID=18160&OrgKey=1180

 

Second, we have had some success with LDS stakes doing the Trails End Popcorn fundraiser last year in particular for cub scout groups.  We all could use more funds to do some of the things we want to do in Scouting.  The Council will be holding an information meeting June 22, 2010 at 6:30 PM at the Scout Office (748 N 1340 W) with our popcorn vendors to talk about how to do this and be successful.  The meeting will focus on:

 

·         The Big Picture of Scouting and Popcorn

·         Intrinsic Values leaned by selling Popcorn

·         LDS Approach to Popcorn (stories of how some LDS stakes have successfully sold Popcorn)

·         Discussion of the 2010 Trail’s End Popcorn Sale Program

 

Boys can also now sell as individuals and not just as part of a unit.  This gives boys an opportunity to sell Popcorn to Grandma and Grandpa, Aunts and Uncles as part of his individual efforts to raise funds for himself in Scouting, his awards, uniform, and camping fees.  Please ask about this at the meeting.

 

This information meeting is in advance of the fall sale which kicks off at the end of August and goes to October 24.
