Subject: Woodstock Update for all trail users!

Please pass this around far and wide to all trail users.  We sat with the owners of Woodstock Inn recently and have great news to share!

Short story:  Be nice ( you are a guest, behave accordingly ), grab some good eats in the bar, and enjoy a new connection to the park.  Park here:  GPS 39.330993,-76.869626  https://goo.gl/maps/JetSpayNkwM2  or  here: GPS 39.330387,-76.869588  https://goo.gl/maps/yE2MwAdpstv.  Always ask the bartenders where you should park and let them know you're there.  Be aware of special events like Sunday July 10th's Bikefest.

Long story:

Scott and Tony, the owners of the Woodstock Inn, have very generously agreed to give us access to a trailhead on the HoCo side behind the Woodstock Inn on their property.  We cannot express how awesome this is, permission from a private landowner to access trail is a very rare occurrence.  They're asking us to park in their overflow spaces downstream of Woodstock Road, behind the bar because we tend to be out in the woods for hours at a time.  They value the park and it's users but also need to be able to accommodate their regular clientele.  If the main lot is full, folks just drive on by.  Park here:  GPS 39.330993,-76.869626  https://goo.gl/maps/JetSpayNkwM2  or here: GPS 39.330387,-76.869588  https://goo.gl/maps/yE2MwAdpstv  and let them know you're there.

Follow these general guidelines and everyone will get along perfectly.

1.  Be nice to Scott and Tony ( the owners ), stop in to the bar and ask if it's okay to park where you are.  They often have special events and would prefer we park on the overflow lot if possible.  You are a guest, behave accordingly.
2.  Please understand the restaurant business relies on body's on bar stools and families at tables.  If you're parked in the lot for a 4 hour tour, that's a parking space that 2 to 3 families can't use during that time, which means no cash for the bar while you're gone.
3.  Don't block the hitching posts.  Stay clear of them, period.  They're for neighbors riding in on horseback, those riders need more room than you think to maneuver their animals up to and away from the hitching posts.
4.  Try to get out by 11:00 am on weekends regardless of special events or not.  If you need to start or be out later, stop in to the bar and ask where you should park.
5.  Let them know about any organized ride/hike/run you have planned so they can try to accommodate both us and their regular customers.
6.  Trail users parking for excursions into the forest should first use the overflow spaces on the downstream side of Woodstock Road.  Let the bartenders know you're there.
7.  Stop in to the bar for a water stop, a little ice in the camelbak/water bottle, grab a mid ride/hike/run beer and lunch.  Hit 'em up for post ride celebrations too.
8.  Keep a safe distance from the railroad tracks when parking, the rails are part of a very active line.  The trains hang over the tracks 4 feet.
9.  Monday thru Thursday please feel free to park wherever ( not in front of the hitching posts )

10.  Subscribe to the Woodstock Inn's facebook page to stay on top of special events, like Sunday July 10th's Bikefest.

All that typed, If you're sweet you might get a half price beer but you have to go in, introduce yourself, and ask nicely if they have a preference for where you should park.  Be patient, they're busy, and will answer any questions you have as soon as they can.  Don't expect them to walk out and point to a spot, they may be managing 40 customers at once and won't have time to wander around with you.

Thanks everyone!

Ed and Eric
