I have been up on the Parkway (it's closed both directions from the BV entrance) the past 3 days.  Along the 2 mile stretch north from the gate I've found: 10-15 Pine Siskins, 3 Red Crossbills with the possibility of a flyover of 10, 3 Red-breasted Nuthatches, 1 Red-headed Woodpecker (where they've been the past few years in the burn area), Towhee, Cardinals, Goldfinches, C Chickadees, Pileated WP, YB Sapsucker, Downy WP, Turkey Vultures, 4+ Ravens, and a RT Hawk.

Dick,
Congrats on the crossbills and siskins. I’m trying to figure out what’s open. Are you saying that there is a 2 mile stretch that’s open, or did you park and walk up the parkway?

Yes, thank you very much. I have birdwatched in Rockbridge County for 55 years. Never found a crossbill until today.
