An American Tree Sparrow visited my yard today. It was hanging out with Purple Finches, Dark-eyed Juncos and White-throated Sparrows but it was clearly a different species. It had a rufous cap, dark spot on a clear breast, bi-colored bill, white wingbars. It looked like a large Chipping Sparrow. The last time I saw one in my yard was Feb. 11, 2010. I wish I could have gotten a better photo.

I’ve got one at my feeder right now! We must be sort of in the same area. I must say I was surprised to see them still hanging around they showed up even before the white throat sparrows did.
