Hi everyone,
We have a food truck coming down from CT Sunday morning (early - 7:30ish)
to serve 700 breakfast sandwiches. Carol has been great at providing me
with info. The learning curve is huge when you are not from the
area. Thanks Carol! A couple questions:
1.) Anyone have a great location for a truck. All we need is a
spot. We will have all supplies and cook on site. Perhaps an area that
can't easily access meals another way?
2.) Right now, all the funds are being donated and we are having small
businesses supply us with some donations as well. However, I would love to
provide even more food if possible. As I walked through CostCo today, I
realized I have access to bulk supplies of lots of stuff that CostCo or
other big stores may want to donate; however, I know they will want a tax
deduction, and we are not a 501c group, just a couple of people trying to
help. Are any of you part of a group that does have tax-exempt charity
status that would be able to a.) provide the letter for tax deductions, and then
b) officially receive the supplies which we could then distribute
through the truck. It just seems we could give everyone so much more food
that way. Carol did direct us to apply for a grant through the mayor's
office for food trucks, but we don't know if we will get it because we are
licensed in CT not in NYC.
Thanks everyone. Hope you were able to feed a good number
today. I know the situation was desparate earlier, but it looked like it
was picking up. Starting next week, I also plan on delivering trays of hot
food to kitchens here, but one thing at a time!
Blessings!
