We will have 100 cold lunches and 10 hot trays of dinners minimum on Wednesday.

Where is best to bring them?

We have transport from ditmas park.

Also, am totally in awe of y'all. We are excited to gather 100 meals per batch.

Hello everyone!
I am waiting to hear from Davina what is going on tomorrow and thursday. When I left at 5p, they were about to discuss whether they would have been opened or not because of the storm, so let me check and get back to you asap. This is only related to the Rockawy Beach Surf Club. I am sure that if they are closed I can direct you somewhere else that will accept them!

thanks for the patience
Samantha

Hello there
So I have just got confirmation that we are (Rockaway Beach Surf Club) open until noon to take in donations and as for the hot food if it is anything that can be delivered by lunch time that would be welcomed. No one is really sure about how bad the storm is going to be so I guess we are trying to deliver everything by lunch time. Storm (from what I heard ) is supposed to hit hard at 6pm.

Please Email me at Casolari...@gmail.com and let me know

- what hot food you have
-which food
-how much
- whether you are set up to distribute it (tables, heating stoves etc)

And I will re- direct you to where to set up!

Thanks!

Thanks Paula and Samantha:

Cold lunches (minimum 100) are going to Warbasse in CI via community center. I'll deliver them directly to residents based on spreadsheet of folks in need who are not mobile.

I'm not sure of numbers of hot meals (hopefully 10 trays or more) but we will drop off as early as we can manage to one or more on Paula's list. Probably not til afternoon.

We are small but trying to be mighty.

Hi all,

Greetings from lower FAirfield County, CT, just an hour north, but it seems like the land of plenty as I read.  I have a friend with a food truck.  We would like to come down as early as possible in the am on Sunday.  We assume weekends are a good time for people to have lots of volunteer help around and would like to serve around 1000 breakfast sandwiches, if possible. Any ideas where to park?  I have never been to the Rockaways, don't have any sense of the lay of the land, and while down there would love to swing by what are the major locations for kitchens/drop off locations.

For the future, I am unable to work in a kitchen, as I am home with two small children; however, I am happy to commit to an ongoing (ONce/week or so) drop off of fully prepared dishes that would only need to be heated.  I would love to have them hot and ready, however, I doubt they would stay hot in the drive down.  But I am certain I can get enough mom friends to commit to making a couple of casseroles each that can be heated and served to at least 500.  Which kitchen can I coordinate this with.

Finally, we want our trip down this Sunday to be as fruitful as possible.  We are coming with an additional vehicle or two along with the truck.  What supplies are most needed down there?  Still cleaning supplies (work gloves, shovels, contractor garbasge bags, bleach, and the like?)

Blessings!

Tani

Hi Tani!

Wow!

The latest updates from people on the ground for what is needed and where to go: http://596acres.org/en/news/tag/rockaway%20relief%20needs/

If you are able to pick up supplies or volunteers please sign up for our ride share: http://www.gowanusstudio.org/relief/rideshare.html
Reach out to volunteers who are a good match, they will do the same. It's self organized to connect everyone quickly.

This could be a good resource for your friend with the truck: http://www.nycfoodtrucks.org/

The city was also offering financial assistance at one point too. Look here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/fund/html/home/home.shtml

Later in the evening as people return, someone will likely reach out to you as well...

Thank you!
