Food at GSS that needs to go out today or tomorrow

Hi All,

We just got a drop off of a trunk full food at The Gowanus Studio Space at 166 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Brooklyn.

Bagels, prepared pasta and prepared chicken, etc. 

Is anyone available to pick it up tonight or tomorrow morning and bring out to a food-ready location?

Lia will have more food to donate today or tomorrow and will send an email for any drivers that can get it out there.

Hello everyone!

I am waiting to hear from Davina what is going on tomorrow and thursday. When I left at 5p, they were about to discuss whether they would have been opened or not because of the storm, so let me check and get back to you asap. This is only related to the Rockawy Beach Surf Club. I am sure that if they are closed I can direct you somewhere else that will accept them!

Hello everyone!

First of all thank you so much for the amazing work you are all doing. I feel the so grateful to be able to collaborate with people like you!

Any leads on hot food/  pre-pepared meals coming to the Rockaways TOMORROW SATURDAY NOV 9TH? It would be great to know!

Also another thing , if you have food, it would be very useful to know:

FOOD COMING IN

* approximately how many people food will feed

* how many cars is the food coming in 

* will volunteers be in the car/s to help distribute food

* what time is it coming in

* does it need to be heated     (IT IS PREFERABLE THAT IT DOES NOT)

* does it need to be cooked    (IT IS PREFERABLE THAT IT DOES NOT)

Hi Samantha

I will be coming in with a van and a generator tomorrow. We leave the city at 9:30 (we hope) and were intending on going way south, like beach 11 b/c thats supposedly particularly hurting for hot food. 

We have tables and the capacity to set up a little buffet with burners, however i have been receiving word that the most effective method might be to go door to door? 

Do you have a suggestion for individual buildings to hit? 

I believe we can feed about 200

In one van…. right now there are 4 of us b/c a couple bailed. We could certainly take on a couple more on site if possible. 

We do not need it to be heated as we have mobile ranges that we can power. 

We do not need it to be cooked… will be pre cooking.

Hi Samantha,

This is Susan, I'm sorry to say this week, I cannot do what I promised because I was not able to hold a meeting in school, so all my members did not get to know about this. However, some did find out and brought in donations which I will be bringing it in with my Advisor! We don't have many people for Saturday sadly, however for those who are going we will be going to veggie island and bring in as much Hot Food as we can!
Sunday will be better, but not as much as I thought.
Saturday about 5 people
Sunday about 20 people

I promise you though next week, when we do hold out meeting, we will have plenty of volunteers, and i have reached out to other clubs I am in communication with and they all were excited to volunteer next week as well!

Hi Samantha I have food going to veggie island today with some donations. It won't be much though. Tomorrow we there will be more volunteers and food brought to veggie island , but next week is when there will be a a mass of volunteers and food I've contacted clubs from other schools and we are arranging plans so that an equal amount are contributed on Saturday and Sunday.
