Thursday PM Hot Food Delivery Location?

Cold sack lunches went to Warbasse in Coney Island today.  They had marathon runners to take them into the towers to residents.  They were thrilled. 

We sent 15 trays of hot meals, muffins and cupcakes, and another 20 or 30 sack lunches out to St. Mary's and International School on Nameoke St just at the beginning of storm.  

We will have cupcakes and hot meals tomorrow for 3 pm.  

Any locations that we should focus on?

Samantha:  

I won't know until tomorrow how many hot meals it is.  We've been averaging about 10-15 trays for each time.  (I think this will be our third time.)  We are a neighborhood with a very active listserv, so we post what we need as far as drivers, meals, etc, and thus far we've been able to make it work. Childcare is an issue in our neighborhood, so we'd probably have a tough time securing more than one driver per day.

I don't know how many that would feed, actually. 

Since we're an ad hoc group of families cooking separately and meeting up only to put stuff in a car, everyone cooks different amounts. These are mostly 8x10 lasagna pans.  So I guess a lasagna feeds 6-8?  

I also don't know how these are being served and to whom.  

If anybody has any guidance on that, I'd love to hear it.  

We were planning to use the addresses Paula sent last night, though.  Is that not right?

that is ok, do not worry! We are just tying to distribute an equal amount to food around, so whatever info we can gather it helps.

I am keeping in touch with Charlene(347-693-6839), the Asst Building mgr. at 8000 Shorefront day to day.

They are in need of more hot food if possible today, as I heard they just received hot chili and are very appreciative.

They will need flashlights to travel the dark hallways at night, batteries, sanitizer, toilet paper and canned goods.

My colleague, Carla Solis, passed on information about the relief work 596 acres is doing in the Rockaways. I am coordinating our food deliveries to the area and would love to arrange some drops at sites you’re working with.

Also, if any of the sites are able to heat/serve prepared food the same day it’s delivered, or able to refrigerate-please send details on those.

 

I will then coordinate with my team and confirm drop times with you.

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a nice day! Any leads on hot food/  pre-pepared meals coming to the Rockaways TOMORROW FRIDAY NOV 8TH? It would be great to know!

Also another thing , if you have food, it would be very useful to know:

FOOD COMING IN

* approximately how many people food will feed

* how many cars is the food coming in 

* will volunteers be in the car/s to help distribute food

* what time is it coming in

* does it need to be heated     (IT IS PREFERABLE THAT IT DOES NOT)

* does it need to be cooked    (IT IS PREFERABLE THAT IT DOES NOT)

There is a small amount of home-prepared food coming from The Gowanus Studio Space. Two big batches of lentils and two bags of bread. I have directed the driver to 596 Acres' list and/or to stop at Veggie Island first for direction, but if there is a more specific suggestion of where this can be heated and served please let me know.
