Biking Help - Recommendations 7 Year Old

Hey Fellow Riders,
Our youngest son who is now 7 (1st grade), we’re trying to teach him to bike so he can bike with me and also his older brother. We told him by the end of Summer we would love for him
To be biking without training wheels. However, the bike that was given to us as a handy down is too heavy for him to use and we are needing something a bit lighter.
I know the reviews for the Guardian bikes are good, but we were hoping for something a little more affordable on price since he will be growing and I would rather spend more on a bike as he gets older (hoping he rides with me on the roads in a few years 😀).
Does anyone have recommendations on a lighter bike for his age, in addition something a little more affordable ($300 or under).
