Hi cycling enthusiasts—
Talking to friends and looking around the neighborhoods where my day-to-day life takes me, it looks like the Zagster bike share program that came to Rochester a month ago is having a tremendous impact. Riders are out and about, stations are busy, and people are talking about it. At last month’s meeting of the Rochester Cycling Alliance, we heard from Brenda Massie, who works for the City and has worked closely with Zagster as they implement the program. This month, we’ll hear from Aviva Manin, Account Director at Zagster. I’m sure she’ll have lots of interesting news.

But wait, there’s more! Here’s the agenda:

1. Zagster update. Aviva Manin, Account Director at Zagster
2. Reconnect Rochester efforts to fund additional Zagster stations
3. Slow Ride in Rochester: Scott Wagner to update.
4. Strong Museum proposal: The design has a new cycle path running north-south along Union Street, but how many (automobile) streets will cross it, one or two? And let’s advocate for more bike and pedestrian connections from Union to Alexander Street.
5. Reconnect Rochester Collaboration - Merger talks - next event gathering of 2 boards for an informal night, date undetermined.
6. New York Bicycling Coalition Bike Summit takes place 15 September in Albany.
7. LCI Bicycle Safety Classes are available soon.
8. Fundraising for traffic safety education campaign

That’s the plan, and the time is 7:00 on Thursday, 17 August, and the place is Goergen Hall room 110 on the University of Rochester campus. Mercifully, most (though not all) of the road construction is complete, so getting there is easier this month than it was last month. See you soon!
