We are thrilled to be planning for our second season in Rochester! The
first season was a tremendous success with over 22,000 rides, 7,800
riders, and a warm and excited community response.
Riders
loved the price - at $1 per 1/2 hour, riding a bike was accessible,
easy, and fun! Many rode a bike for the first time in ages, and many
added more cycling into their regular routines. We saw an average of 309
rides per day on weekends and 180 on weekdays.
The
community also provided feedback that we've taken to heart. There will
be easier access to bikes via Androids; we're rolling out a cash-based
payment system for the underbanked; keypads are coming to provide access
to those without smartphones; and we're setting up referrals to reward
riders who bring in new members. We got a lot of feedback about renting
more than one bike with one account, which is something we are
exploring.
For sponsors, we will now be
providing data at the app, bike and station level, so you know how many
impressions your brand is getting. We are rolling out additional sponsor
benefits over the next several months to help you connect deeply with
the bike share riding populations.
A few other
changes are coming to Rochester! We're eliminating the $1 off-station
docking fee, meaning riders can get anywhere without paying extra. Five
adaptive bikes are coming, which will support riders with mobility,
sensory, and other limitations that make a standard bike inaccessible.
We're also folding Zagster Rochester into our larger national network of
bike shares, called Pace. That means that riders from all over
the country will be able to ride in Rochester - meaning more exposure
for your brand and wider connections with your community.
Much
more information is coming as we prepare to re-launch in April, but in
the meantime please reach out with any questions or concerns!
