I hope the UofR is going to send out a media release about this award. There are only 193 United States colleges & universities achieving League of American Bicyclist's Bicycle Friendly University status. Only 16 (8.2% of 193) universities & colleges have achieved Silver Bicycle Friendly University status.

The press release should mention how this award benefits UofR undergraduate, graduate, & medical center student applications, faculty and staff recruitment.

The UofR information office might want to a quote from Karin Weisburgh, Director, League of American Bicyclists. Karin's email address is:  kweis...@gmail.com
As well as from
Scott MacRae, Chair, Rochester Cycling Alliance
Bill Collins, Vice Chair, Rochester Cycling Alliance
Paul Knerr, President, Rochester Bicycling Club, pa...@e-knerr.com 585 330-8374
Paul Winkeller, Executive Director, New York Bicycling Coalition, pa...@nybc.net
Brenden Ryan, Engineer Technician?, Barton & Loguidice, Brendan...@gmail.com might be a good under 25 year old to quote, too.

Hi everybody--
I've got good news this morning: U of R earned a silver "Bicycle Friendly"
award from the League of American Bicyclists this year. That's an
improvement from bronze, which they've earned in the past, with Glenn
Cerosaletti doing a lot of the heavy lifting, I think. This article
<http://www.rochester.edu/newscenter/university-receives-bicycle-friendly-silver-award-352452/>
has more details. The Department of Transportation and Parking Management
has authority for such things and is discussed in the article, so please
consider sending a quick note of thanks to Jim Chodak
<james....@rochester.edu>, the director.

Does anybody know if Jim and his staff initiated the application? Or was
Glenn leading the charge again?

Thanks for letting us know, Doug. I did not lead the charge; Jim and Bruce Bashwiner mentioned to us in a meeting a couple of months ago that they had pursued it. Andrea Walton and Jeff Foster may also have been instrumental, as well as perhaps our sustainability coordinator in Facilities, Amy Kadrie. Good idea to exercise some positive reinforcement with this accomplishment.
