I got the new weather station for Harris in the mail, got it assembled and configured, Tim activated that SIM card, and it's ready to install on the windsock pole at Harris or Indian Cliffs.
Thanks a bunch to everyone who contributed.
If you contributed, send me your preference as to location ( Harris or Cliffs ) and whichever gets more votes is where it will get installed.

*Right now it's reporting conditions in my upstairs office  : )

Hmmm. Maybe the Cliffs is better as it is farther from the Gliderport station. We can use the Gliderport station for flying at Harris.

Rick says that IC launch already is narrow, so we would not want to place something there which would make it even narrower. So, to answer your question Rob, not sure yet, will need to think about it.

If it was on top of the windsock pole at IC, it wouldn't create any more of an obstruction than is already there, but perhaps it would not get a good clean airflow if it was placed so close to the trees. (The windsock pole is close to the trees.)

If considering placement where the airflow is cleanest, the top of the Harris windsock pole gets good, clean airflow.

The IC slot has a significant funnelling effect.  Left crosses can appear straight in.  The valley flow influences direction as well.
Cross referencing airport winds with a Harris station should be good for IC.
If more info is desired later, I'd contribute to another unit.

Harris Hill Wind Sock pole it is ....
Sounds like there might be enough interest in a second unit for Indian Cliffs.
Maybe we can do that one sometime in the Spring.
