  • Harriet Hollister                 Closed
  • Mossy Banks                    Closed
  • Padgham

Meeting Location for future:

1240 Jefferson Road, Henrietta

Safety: Reserve Chute Repack:

  • Jim Black was out west for paraglider SIV class and his chute did not open/unfold. The instructor reviewed the repack and said the rubber bands were too tight. Brian Vogel had a similar issue in the past and his instructor said the repack was too tight.
  • Joe Junta talked to Jim’s instructor and agree’s he should alter his repacking for paragliding/hang gliding as opposed to skydiving.
  • Joe Junta will repack everyone’s chute for free.
  • Mortiz’s original email describing the issue will be sent out directly to all members listed in the RAF members page in case they did not see the original post in the RAF google group.
  • People should mention when flying at every outing that members should repack their chute, so they can at least know about the issue.

Four-Wheeler / Mower Training (Rick)

  • Rick wants more people trained on the four-wheeler and mower.
  • This could be done at the “Fun Fly Day” in November.

Italy Valley / Bylaws / Lawyer Progress (Moritz, Marty)

  • Marty initiated contact with the lawyers, and repeatedly asked for updates but has not gotten any response.
  • Moritz would like to get the by-laws and Italy Valley completed by November.
  • Italy Valley - No has used the old LZ in five years. Italy valley top landing is good for paragliders, small for hang gliders. In an emergency you can land anywhere.

Astro Turf / Playground Matts for Paraglider Launch (Rick)

  • Rick has found a place to get 5 rolls of Astro Turf and 40”x60” playground matts. The owner is going to take a tax right off.
  • Very heavy, 4 tons of rubber, we’ll need to haul it away ourselves
  • Would need to grade launch first before laying it down. Hammonds port is the better location. Bristol launch is probably not worth it since we’ll need NYS approval.
  • Louis Vasconcelos is going to talk to Hammondsport landowner, Richard
