The spring flying season starts in a few months and I was wondering if any thought has been given to promoting the club online.  Facebook could be a useful way to get the word out inexpensively and easily.  With Facebook ads,  you can target only people living in this region and even specific interests.  I didn't even know there was a HG/PG club here until I met a student who was flying at Long Acres.

There is already a Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rochester-Area-Flyers/216293981734646), all that we would have to do is create some content here explaining the training program or have a link back to the web site.

Brian,
that sounds like a good idea. Anything we can do to get the word out. Can you put something together for the RAF?
Thanks,
Moritz

What I suggest is a two part campaign. Start now, just to raise
awareness. Once we have dates for check-it-out, then we can promote
that. I can kick in $25 to get the ball rolling. We can then evaluate
the performance of campaign and see if it would be worth continuing.

For the Facebook page itself, there isn't much content on the page.
It would be nice to have some high quality photos to put into
galleries of our training program, days flying, etc.

If anyone has photos, videos or other content on their blogs/website/
Facebook already and doesn't mind sharing content on the Facebook
page, let me know and I can get that content on our Facebook page. If
anyone would like access to post content to our page, let me know as
well.

Cheers,

Brian

I can also post flyers around RIT once we know dates for check it out and training. I posted some last year but way too late for them to be too effective.

Good idea. Does anyone have access to inexpensive color printing? I
just noticed they had a bulletin board at my gym, I could post one
here. I suspect there are other such boards around the community that
our members frequent on a regular basis. It wouldn't be a big deal to
have a few in your car to hand out or post up in places, as
appropriate.

Hi Brian and anybody else who wants to help,
I can print any PDF files if somebody is willing to make up a flyer. We used to make one up with the little tear-off tabs which are nice for bulletin boards. The main information on the sheet was to invite people to learn more about hang gliding by going to our website and give them the dates for our training program. The tear off tabs had the RAF website address and my phone number.

Here are the dates for this year

Check it out April 14, rain-date 21
Training Program April 28 - June 29

Get creative, go on the web or use your own pictures, or steal them from Todd's blog!

First meeting of this calendar year next Tuesday, January 10!

Thank you and see you there,

Moritz

Not too many sledders this year, except from Cloud Base!  I didn't get many flights in this year but the ones I did were pretty darn sweet.

(plenty of sledder pictures in previous years though)  glidestone.blogspot.com

Attached is the one I posted last year. I wanted to keep it pretty simple. I figure if someone is truly interested in this type of commitment, they will go to the website and find info on dates/check-it-out.

I like it. Simple. Direct. Eye-catching.

Being picky, should it say "up to 6 times a week"?
