Rob. Did you have a fin on the Sport? Looked pretty benign once you got established. Was the air pretty calm at the time? Any xwind on the TO roll?

Yeah, I had a fin.
TOGA requires it (SOGA doesn't).
You have to fly SOGA before going to TOGA.
You have to cart launch at Instinct.pro ( St. Jacobs Ontario) before you can aerotow.
Mark Dowsett who runs Instinct will pretty much let you go at your own pace.
When you feel that you are comfortable aerotowing he'll go to SOGA with you.
He doesn't really want to do tandems w/you, but he will if you want him to.
TOGA is in Teviotdale, SOGA is SE of Arthur.
All of the sites ( St. Jacobs, SOGA, TOGA ) are about 25 minutes from each other.

Did a fin come with your glider, or did you purchase your own? Or rent? I'll call this Mark at Instinct and try to get the lowdown on how to get my AT. Understand that CA does not honor USHPA ratings??

Keeping busy with housework and gardening mostly. No high sites around these parts and the tow park, while not too far away, doesn't fit my demeanor (or wallet). So I've given up flying for now.
How did the training class go this year? Hoping that some recent "graduates" we're able to pitch in and offer assistance. It would also be great if some of the younger members would think about becoming instructors.

Can't you work out some sort of a deal where you work the towpark in return for free tows?
Jim Rooney has a winch that he's offered up that you could use to start your own towing club. It's not too far from your house.

Nah. I'd be starting from scratch and I have other things keeping me occupied (for now). Who knows what the future holds!
Isn't Jim's winch the one the club is trying to procure? That will be an awesome addition to RAF's training and also for rated pilots on those all to frequent L&V days. I've thought about volunteering to go with whoever is going to Wisconsin to get that winch (Jim's or whoevers) since they would have to pass near Detroit anyway. Not sure I'll be much help other than an extra hand and driver but it would be an interesting journey in any case.
