Are you looking for just a ground handling Wing or do you intend to fly it at some point too?

I have A Niviuk Hook 6 wing and harness already.

I wanted something I could ground handle with at the ocean that was smaller

and could get filled with sand without me worrying about hurting my flyable wing.

Thank you,

Terence

Many folks in the RAF have smaller "practice wings" that are specifically made for kiting and are not certified to fly.  They use them on a regular basis when the wind is too strong to kite a real wing.   My personal opinion ...  They are useless once you have the basics down b/c they are not an accurate reflection of how an actual wing will kite and fly.   How are you going to determine what your appropriate wind range is for flying?  Will you be overconfident killing a real wing in high wind b/c you can do it with your practice wing ?   Do the techniques that you develop for killing a kiting wing work when you are getting dragged by your real wing ?  Does your practice wing behave in the same manner as your flying wing or are you developing "bad" habits with your kiting wing ?
Again ...  Just my personal thoughts.
If you are going to get a "beach wing", why not just get a full sized "beater" wing ?

Rob,

That makes sense, to ground handle on a full size wing. I do have an older non flyable full size wing I could use for ground handling.

I bought it for the purposes of ground handling but I thought it might be to be large to work with a strong ocean breeze.

Thank you for your experience and wisdom!
