Hello from RYP—

This week RYP offers 4 events.
  • On Monday, join RYP for “Magic in the Making,” a backstage tour of Geva Theater. Once a year, Geva opens its doors (and dressing rooms, costume and lighting workshops, props shop and much, much more) to the public for a behind-the-scenes look at how they make the magic that you see onstage. We will be getting a backstage look at the set of the holiday classic A Christmas Story. If you are interested in joining other RYP members for the tour, we will be meeting at the bar area of Geva at 6:30pm.
  • On Thursday, be sure to join us for our Holiday Glitz with proceeds and toy donations to benefit the Pirate Toy Fund.  This is the perfect time of year to give back and RYP has teamed up with Discover Rochester and One Restaurant for this special event to benefit the Pirate Toy Fund. Admission is either a new children's toy OR $10 for tickets ordered in advance OR $20 at the door. Your night will include: NYS fine wine tasting, live jazz music, live cooking demonstration by ONE's executive chef, hors d'oeuvres, door prizes, special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus and more. This fund-raising benefit is all about bringing toys and smiles to needy children in the Rochester area! Won't you join us? An event to dress up for, a cause to support! FREE entry with a new toy donation! Reserve your advance ticket by emailing: <Je...@DRtheMag.com> or online at <http://DRtheMag.com/drevents.php/>.
  • Also on Thursday, Geva is offering discount tickets to RYP members to see the live version of A Christmas Story. RYP members receive a 30% discount off of tickets. Tickets are $36.00 on the floor level and $32.50 on the balcony for this performance only. The show starts at 7:00pm. Arrive early to check out the bar specials. Volunteer Activities

The Salvation Army needs 10,000 volunteers to ring bells at kettle sites throughout Monroe County from now till Dec. 24. Bell Ringers help encourage potential donors as they pass by kettles with nothing more than a holiday cheer and a friendly smile. Volunteer for a few hours as an individual, family or as a group! Some
people bring their dogs, others bring their guitars! The Red Kettle Campaign is The Salvation Army's biggest fund-raiser, and helps provide food, clothing, and Christmas toys to hundreds of families in need. Check out their page on Facebook for updates. To volunteer, call the Red Kettle Hotline at (585) 987- 9500 ext. 2313 and leave a message with your contact information or register online at <http://www.rochestersalvationarmy.org/>.  A Salvation Army staff member will then contact you to schedule a bell ringing time for you or your organization.
The City of Rochester would like volunteers to assist with their New Year's Eve festivities from 6-10pm at the Convention Center. This will be a fun event in celebration of the City’s 175th Anniversary. If you are interested in volunteering contact <maria....@r-y-p.org>.
