Dinner will be at popular Italian restaurant Veneto on East Ave. If you are interested in attending the dinner, please RSVP to <kbal...@geh.org>. On Thursday, join RYP for a fun and delicious social at Simply Crepes at the downtown library. There will be a crepe making demonstration, live music, and networking. Special RYP Leadership Announcement

Over the next few weeks, I will be transitioning out of my role as President of RYP but will continue to be involved with community engagement for our group. Being President of RYP for the last three years has been an amazing experience. I have met so many interesting, engaged, and involved young professionals. Over the last three years, we have grown our membership and added lots of events (we have at least 4 each month). We now have a strong relationship with the arts community in Rochester. RPO offers an exclusive YP membership to RYP members and Geva and Mercury Opera offer highly discounted ticket prices to our members. We have developed a relationship with the business community and have been offered attendance at exclusive events through Rochester Business Alliance and Small Business Council. One of RYP’s accomplishments that I am most proud of is the partnership with United Way to encourage non-profits to open board and committee seats to our members. Through Facebook and our weekly mailing, approximately 100 of our members have learned about and have been placed on local boards and committees. Our members now have a stronger voice in addressing the needs of this community through board membership.

The new President is going to be Steve Vogt, our current Social Events Director. Steve has done an amazing job over the last year organizing and coordinating the many interesting events we offer our members. Steve works in the non-profit community and is currently a Human Resources Manager for Hillside Children’s Center. Steve will be a great leader for RYP and will build on our current successes and create new ones.

I want to thank people who have been integral to the success of RYP. RYP is run completely by volunteers who spend a significant amount of time planning events in order to keep young professionals engaged in our community. Thank you to: Steve Vogt, Amanda Dollinger, and James Santimaw for all of your hard work and coordination in developing successful social events. Teresa Gianni for your effort in working with local non-profits to create important and fun volunteer opportunities for our members and to Susan Peter for assisting Teresa with the coordination on these events and creating new volunteer opportunities. Gary Fitch for all of his help in creating well attended community events including the very popular non-profit board fair. And Rob Speciale who has helped RYP to develop strong relationships with the business community.

I want to give a special thank you to Christopher Burns, the founder and former President of RYP. Without Christopher’s vision, advocacy and perseverance, RYP would not exist.

Thank you to all of our members who faithfully attend our events and support our work.

Maria Thomas Fisher

RYP Activities

EYP/RYP Dinner & Movie

Runs: June 22nd
Times: 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Location: Dryden Theater-George Eastman House
Description: The Freshman, starring Marlon Brando and Matthew Broderick, is this month's YP movie at the Dryden. Join RYP and EYP for dinner before the film at Veneto Restaurant on 318 East Ave. at 6:30 p.m. Afterwards the group will head to the Dryden for the film that starts at 8 p.m. If you plan on attending the dinner please RSVP to <kbal...@geh.org>.

About the film:
Marlon Brando gives a rare comedic performance as Carmine Sabatini, a mafia don who bears a striking resemblance to The Godfather himself, Vito Corleone. The don hires Matthew Broderick, a down-on-his-luck film student, to deliver a package, and before long Broderick finds himself inside the family circle and entangled with the don’s daffy daughter (Penelope Ann Miller). Brando's portrayal is a fearless self-parody that is not to be missed in this charming and unpredictable comedy. All YPs receive a $2 discount to the movie so be sure to mention this post at the Box Office. http://dryden.eastmanhouse.org/

RYP Social @ Simply Crepes

Runs: June 24th
Times: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: 114 South Ave-Rochester Public Library
Description: Join RYP at a Rochester hidden gem, Simply Crepes, located in the Bausch and Lomb Central Library, downtown. Simply Crepes is the home of casual French cuisine in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. If you have never been to the library location before, be sure to check it out and partake in some tasty french food with an American spin.

We will take advantage of the summer weather by holding the mixer in the outside courtyard. There will be a bar available with beer and wine where you can enjoy drink specials all evening. A live band will perform under the veranda and live crepe making demonstrations will happen throughout the night. Food will be available from the kitchen during the social. Members can network, meet new people, or just have a good time! You make our socials what you want them to be. If there is rain we will move the social inside to the dining room where there is still ample room for the event.

  • Free Parking is located on Broad street in front of the library or on the Broad Street bridge. All on street parking inside the city limits is free after 6pm, there is no need to feed the meter.
  • Affordable paid parking is located in the Court Street garage behind the library with a covered walkway leading into the library. The 1st hour is free, 2nd hour is $2.00, and each additional hour is $1.00 with a max of $6.75. (Dont ask me how you get to 75 cents, but whatever?)
  • The social is in the 90's built building, not the stately old library from back in the day.

RYP Volunteers: Beer and Food Paring Party - LPGA

Runs: June 25th
Times: 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: ESL Champions Pavilion
Description: Volunteer to Pour Beer for a great cause and get a free LPGA ticket! 40 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! Get close to the action and support the Children's Success Fund!

All tournament proceeds from the LPGA Championship presented by Wegmans will benefit children at risk in our community through the Children's Success Fund. The Children's Success Fund will serve the growing number of children and families in need through mentoring, training, volunteerism, academic guidance and social support.

Come out and enjoy LPGA golf during the day and volunteer at night for the beer and food pairings party. Wegmans executive chefs will prepare unique foods to be paired with over 18 different brands of beer from around the world.

This should be a FUN VOLUNTEERING EVENT! Volunteers will be given a station where they will pour beer for the beer tasting portion of the event. We will need 2 volunteers per station (20 stations) so 40 volunteers are needed for this event. Training will begin at 5:00pm and the event will start shortly after.

Volunteers need to arrive at the ESL Champions Pavilion (between the first and 18th fairways) at 5:00pm on Friday. The easiest way to get to the event is to meet at MCC at 4:30pm to take the shuttle.

RYP will provide a list of the volunteers to the Event Director so everyone can get their ticket. This ticket is valid all day so if you want to come early and watch golf for the day, just meet us at the tent at 5:00pm. If you are interested in volunteering for this fun event, please contact Susan Peter - susan...@technisource.com Thanks for Volunteering!
