Rochester Business Journal is expanding its focus on young
professionals and entrepreneurs. They are looking for people in their
early 20s to late 30s for weekly short profiles in the paper and
online. You might be familiar with RBJ's Small Business/Fast Start story
– every other week they interview a business owner. RBJ is now
expanding that focus to better reach young professionals. If you are
interested in being interviewed about your career, whether it’s the
work you do or the business you own, you can e-mail Sally Parker at
spa...@rbj.net. Sally will need to know your full name, age, job title
and place of work. You must be living in the Rochester area. RBJ is
looking forward to giving some well-deserved exposure to the
accomplishments of the younger end of Rochester’s business community!
Congratulations to RYP member
Elayne Wesley for being featured
as an up and coming leader in the Democrat and Chronicle’s “On the
Ladder” section. To read the article go to

Are you looking to help out with the crisis in Haiti? You can Text
“HAITI” to 90999 and a $10 donation will be made to the American Red
Cross Relief Efforts. It’s an easy and convenient way to donate using
your cell phone and 100 percent of the donation goes towards helping
the people in Haiti. A one time $10 charge will be added to your phone
bill. To document your donation, after you send a text message you will
receive a confirmation text that asks you to reply “YES” if you intend
to give a $10 donation to the Red Cross Haiti relief efforts. A thank
you text will follow. We know the recovery is going to take years and
the people of Haiti are going to need a lot more monetary support than
what’s already been donated.
Or you can send a donation to local medical organization InterVol.
InterVol collects and sends medical supplies to areas in need. They
have been in the news recently because they have already sent planes
with medical staff and supplies to Haiti. You can make a donation at
www.intervol.org.
Be sure to sign up for the RYP Facebook page!

The Census Department is staffing up to hire Census takers to
support the Census 2010. These temporary positions will start in late
March 2010 and end in August 2010. Census takers work in their
communities locating households to explain the purpose of the census,
conduct personal interviews with respondents who failed to return their
2010 Census questionnaire, and record their responses on paper forms.
In most cases, a valid driver's license and use of a vehicle are
required to work as a census taker. Each applicant must take a 30
minute basic skills test consisting of 28 multiple choice questions
measuring knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform a
variety of census jobs. Census taker schedules typically include 20 to
40 hours of work per week. You must be available to work when people
are usually home, such as in the evening and on weekends. More
information, including a practice test, is available
