RYP has one event this week. On Wednesday, join RYP for a home buying seminar in the home of Rochester’s #1 real estate agent Mark Siwiec. Mark and his team of real estate professionals will be covering a number of home buying topics including the: first time and extension first time home-buyer tax credit, prequalification, inspections and more. This is a great opportunity to learn from one of this community’s leaders. Food and drinks will be provided. To learn more about Mark, go to <http://www.marksiwiec.com/>. Maria Thomas Fisher, RYP President, will be presenting.

Next week, on Wednesday, join RYP for a social at one of Rochester’s most popular and delicious restaurants, Dinosaur Barbeque. Dinosaur will be providing complimentary food and drink specials. On Friday, RYP members have been invited to attend a gallery opening at Venu restaurant with wine and chocolate tasting

RYP Activities

RYP Home Buying w/Mark Siwiec

Runs: February 24th
Times: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: Mark Siwiec's Home
Description: Attend a home buying event at the home of Mark Siwiec. Mark is the leading sales agent in Rochester with over $33 million in annual sales. Meet this community leader and learn about home buying.

We will cover a variety of issues:
- home buying for the 1st time buyer
- the extension of the 1st time home buyer tax credit
- prequalifying from A-Z
- Mortgage brokers vs banks
- the importance of having buyer's representation
- the importance of inspections

Also, there will be mortgage brokers, and buyers agents. Complimentary food and drinks will be provided.

RYP Retain the Brains Presentation

Runs: February 25th
Times: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Location: Central Library-115 South Ave
Description: We are facing a "brain drain" as recent graduates from area colleges have left Upstate NY. Maria Thomas Fisher, will talk about how the group Rochester Young Professionals is working to retain and attract young professionals through social, business, volunteer and community engagement. The presentation will be in the Kate Gleason Auditorium.

Community Activities

The Rochester Oratorio Society: www.rossings.org is now accepting entries for Rochester’s fourth annual Classical Idol Competition (www.rosclassicalidol.org). This juried competition with audience participation seeks the best emerging vocal talent in the classical music genre: opera, art song, oratorio or musical theater. Modeled after the popular TV show, American Idol, singers compete before a live audience for cash prizes and a chance to perform a solo in concert with the Rochester Oratorio Society. Registration for this season’s competition closes February 28, 2010.
 
Application forms and full eligibility requirements can be found on the website.
Preliminary round selection occurs by recorded audition CD adjudicated by ROS Music Director, Eric Townell. The final round will be at the Hochstein Performance Hall, Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 7:30 pm.

Benefit Concert for Haiti

Description: On January 12th, 2010, a devastating earthquake struck the nation of Haiti, killing more than 100,000 people and leaving millions more injured and homeless. At present, there is a desperate need for medical supplies, equipment and aid in the aftermath of this enormous devastation.Please join with us to show the people of Haiti that “Rochester Cares!” All proceeds from this benefit concert will go directly into Haiti bringing with it courage and hope!

Red Cross w/RazorSharks

Runs: February 27th
Times: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Location: Blue Cross Arena
Description: Join us for Red Cross Day with the Rochester RazorSharks. The Rochester RazorSharks invites the community to enjoy a professional Premier Basketball League game to benefit the Red Cross Local Disaster Relief Fund. $1 of each ticket goes to local disaster relief.
