This week, RYP members have been invited to volunteer for the Digital Rochester event on Tuesday at Max at High Falls. Community Activities

DR Celebrates 10 Years

Runs: September 14th
Times: 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Location: Max at High Falls
Description: It has been 10 years since the DR founders started getting Rochester’s tech professionals together for pizza and beer at Tonic. We now have over 5,500 general members on our mailing list, strong corporate support and collaborative community involvement – all contributing to the success of Digital Rochester! Join us for networking on September 14th at Max at High Falls (60 Brown’s Race) as we look back on the past ten years and reveal the details for a GREAT DR event coming in 2011.

Max will be serving some special food to celebrate DR’s 10th Anniversary. And as always, Genesee Brewing Company will be providing the free beer. Come and see if you can spot yourself in the slide show featuring ten years of pictures from networking at Tonic and many other DR signature events. Other highlights for the evening include music by Soul Express (members from the group The Orient Express) and raffle prizes. General admission fee is $5 at the door.

Rec on the Move Kickoff

Runs: September 15th
Times: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Location: Fourth and Peck Playground
Description: The gleaming new Recreation on the Move mobile recreation center brings the offerings and benefits of City Recreation Centers right to city neighborhoods. Recreation on the Move will increase the access to and knowledge of the many healthy, educational and fun activities that City Recreation provides; will promote visits to Recreation Centers; and will provide information about other City-provided and other leisure–time alternatives available to them. Recreation on the Move embodies the City's commitment to youth in all its neighborhoods.

Writers and Books is having a contest for an I-Pad that they would like to promote to RYP members. The drawing will be Sept. 25th. To learn more about Writers and Books and to purchase a $10 ticket go to wab.org. Proceeds from this contest benefit Writers and Books which provides summerwrite youth camp scholarships to low-income children.

Exciting International Professional Development Opportunity for Young Professionals

Rotary District 7120 is looking for potential candidates to apply for the Rotary Group Study Exchange Program.  They are seeking YP's who are interested in participating in this year's exchange with the Rotary District in Veracruz, Mexico for a 4 week professional development program in the month of May. Team member candidates are required to be between 25-40 years of age, currently employed, able to take a professional development leave for 4 weeks, complete a pre-application process (including a formal interview), and promote international understanding and goodwill. The City of Rochester is seeking an Area Coordinator. This is a management position in the Bureau of Recreation, Department of Recreation and Youth Services (DRYS), responsible for the Bureau operated recreation/community centers/programs in a geographic section of the City. In support of the City's Quadrant Model, an incumbent in this title will serve as the recreation liaison to an assigned quadrant and will participate in quadrant meetings and projects in an effort to promote the sharing of resources, opportunities, and information. This position exercises general supervision over Recreation Center Directors and works under the general supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Recreation.
