Unfortunately this conflicts with Rochester Against War's presentation
"Rethinking Afghanistan" I also heard something about a marriage
rights event downtown earlier that day.
That said, I think we should pursue some rides in the suburbs
As we found out when Critical Mass went to Pittsford, auto speed is
higher and people are less considerate
Some people in Hilton organized a successful Critical Mass last
Friday. Unfortunately it was at the same time as the Rochester ride
We just need to do something about all these time conflicts

Suburban Critical Mass
Recently, a boy in my hometown was hit by a
high school senior (who was
changing the song on his ipod and veered off the road) and broke both
of his arms and both of his legs. My friend's father was hit not two
weeks ago (breaking his collar bone) when a woman was making a right
turn on red. I've heard of a lot of disturbing incidents in my town
involving cyclists and motorists and I'm ready for it to stop. We all
know cycling in the city can be very dangerous, but it can be equally
as dangerous in the suburbs. Motorists and cyclists alike don't know
the rules of the road, and even if they do, its unlikely that they
follow them. And that is why on Friday, October 2nd at 5pm at the
Penfield Town Hall, there will be the first ever CUL DE SAC MASS. This
is just like Critical Mass, but in the suburbs.
I know, most of you probably live in the city and have no interest in
Penfield. But bicycle safety is always important, no matter where you
live. So for those of you living in the city, Penfield is only an 8
mile trip (and almost all of it is going down East Ave, its really not
far at all) and I believe there will be other people making that trip.
You can go on facebook and look up CUL DE SAC MASS in events and find
it, add yourself, and get updates. If you can't find the page, let me
know and I'll get in touch.
Hope to see you there!
