I like these Ubuntu prebuilt binaries. I've been using the desktop
image on my PandaBoard, but I've also loaded up the server (headless)
image to test it out. After downloading the server image, I had a new
PandaBoard up and running (minus the omap-extras) in 30 minutes. We
(meaning Ralph) have put effort into developing a HBRC PandaBoard
image, but I'm thinking that it might be better to adopt one of the
prebuilt Ubuntu images for two reasons:
1. They are quick and easy to install. Ralph's instructions are great,
but the steps to installing the prebuilt binaries are even easier.
2. Presumably, the binaries will be kept up to date as new versions of
Ubuntu are released. This alleviates us of the task of keeping our
image up to date.
Perhaps we can take advantage of the prebuilt binaries by creating a
HBRC patch that is loaded on top of the Ubuntu server image. That way,
we only need to make modifications to our small set of patches rather
than trying to maintain an entire image.
