Hello friends, I hope finals are going well for everyone. I would just like to make an announcement that, if any of you guys want to do something for Robotics Club during your break, please reply to this email that you are interested and you'll be in the area. I understand that many of you guys will want to relax this Spring Break, myself included, but I'd like to make the lab available this Spring Break for various activities. Of course you are welcome to just hang out if you like. I'm thinking of working on things for most Spring Break evenings (6:00 pm - sleeptime), unless I'm out camping.
Project Spark:
One thing we need to work on is getting the robots that we ordered at the beginning of the quarter to work in preparation of Engineering Week on Week 2 of Spring quarter. Our theme is interactive robots, so the robots we are working on react to objects in front of their faces. There is code available on a website, but I need help in uploading the code into the robots, and troubleshooting if necessary.
RoboMagellan:
We also need help working on RoboMagellan in preparation for RoboGames on April 20. I've seen the robot move before, and we need to get it to move toward a GPS location, and touch an orange cone. We also need to work on a kill-switch, which will power down the robot if the operator ever lets go of a button. Extra help we need help on, but will not apply for the design in time for finals, is a redesign of the chassis so that the robot is more maneuverable, and can travel at higher speeds without tipping over.
Move to 2nd Floor Boelter:
Lastly, we are preparing to move out of our old lab, and into our new lab in 2nd Floor Boelter. We need help packing in preparation for this movement, as well as organizing and inventorying our equipment and supplies. I need help from everyone for this task, and I'm willing to buy food for the event if people will help out. I especially need from the project leads a list of items that we should leave out to support your individual projects.
Again, good luck with finals, and I hope you guys enjoy your Spring Break!
