Hi Everyone,
First off, I would like to thank you very much for your interest in UCLA Robotics, as well as the topic of robotics in general. I like to think of robotics as the ultimate field in engineering. I see it as the culmination of different kinds of engineers, all working together in order to achieve a common task. And it's not just limited to engineers, folks. Our friends in North Campus are deeply involved in the fields of linguistics and behavioral science, all which is required for artificial intelligence.
That being said, I urge you to forward this message to any parties who may be interested in joining!
Now for the headlines:
1 -> We have completed the move to the newly constructed Student Creativity Center, located immediately to your right as you walk in.
2 -> Said Creativity Center was host to the inaugural HS-SEAS Tech Camp. The deal with this is that UCLA Robotics wrote a winning proposal for what to teach the students. This gave some of our members the opportunity to intern with CENS/HS-SEAS last year as mentors, secured us space in the SCC, and also provided us with $600 of funding to initiate our various projects. Needless to say, we wish to continue submitting proposals to give you the opportunity to participate in a paid internship as well.
3 -> We are securing funding from our sponsors at Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and the USAF. The Air Force has kindly donated us workstations which will be available for use to members. We are also looking to acquiring more computers [workstation grade laptops] as well.
4 -> We are currently in the stage of developing initiating projects for new members, resuming operations surrounding the RoboMagellan project for RoboGames, and doing some research and development/proposing to DARPA. If you have any suggestions or questions, we encourage you to email us back. [Just make sure you don't spam everyone].
Once again, thank you for your interest in UCLA Robotics (and for forwarding this to interested parties). We encourage you to visit us during Zero Week, during which time we will be prepping for full scale operations (Ninety percent probability of free food!). Feel free to email back your questions or suggestions.

Thank You,
