Is necessary a ROS tutorial?

Hi everyone...

What do you think of make a tutorial about installing and learning some ROS concepts?

I guess some persons are interested in this project but don't have enough knowledge about ROS (me neither), so i think that would be great to have a "welcome tutorial" (may be slides, videos, pdf...), based on ros.org tutorial and on the goal of the group; All this in order to begin programming and sharing code and knowledge.

Yes, I think that would be great to attract interest from more enthusiasts. I too am just getting started with the tutorials but a tutorial focusing the objective of building a miniature robotic-car from the class would be something awesome.

Yeah, like a project-oriented tutorial. I was a little intimidated by the tutorial list from ROS because it had a billion little things to do. If one existed that walked the user through specific tasks by showing them various pieces of functionality and providing some code, that would be really good and might attract more users.

Guys,

I'm really sorry about that. I intended to do so, but this semester is
sucking my soul, so I have no time for that =/

I'll be using ROS in my research UAV and maybe I could convince the
guys working with a miniature car to do so too, but I'm not sure. In
the next project meeting (I have no idea when), I'll suggest so, but I
can't promise anything for now.

If someone starts doing the tutorials, I'd like to help, but right now
I can't do that on my own.

Hi!

I made a brief presentation about what ROS is, why use ROS and what does ROS includes. Here is the Link to the Doc. If someone find a mistake or have an idea for improve the file, or to make more slides, please let me know.

I expect to start a installation tutorial and a concepts/examples tutorial. In the last i want to make difference with ROS.org tutorial that sometimes can become bored. so if you want to help in this let's do it.
