Hello !!!

My name is Guilherme Funchal, I am Brazilian, and work with technology in Brazil. I am studying the "Robot Framework", specifically selenium library. I am interested in translating into Portuguese the documentation and share with the community.

How could I do to send the translations to the community site ?

Sincerely

Hélio Guilherme

Hello Guilherme,

I understand your interest in translating Robot Framework, although I think that this testing framework is to be used by people with basic English skills.
If you still think that it is a valued effort, please do it. If you'd like I could review your translation, since I am Portuguese.
About the technical challenge of translating the documentation that is embedded into the Python code;  you'll need to fork the project on Github and create a branch for the translated files. Otherwise, and even like this, it will very difficult to maintain the translation project.
Maybe the owners of Robot Framework have some comments about this, especially if they are to host the translated documents.

Guilherme, Pekka Klärck will probably have the best direct answer for
you. But with the idea raised I was curious as to how the Python
community and in particular the site Read The Docs uses/implements
internationalization and localization in its documentation. I found this
note in the Read The Docs contributer documentation

https://read-the-docs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/contribute.html#helping-on-translations

Looks like they are using Transfix. Plone, a Python project I have used
and contributed in the past, has really good internationalization and
localization support which one could model after. (see [1][2]).

Just some thoughts...

Obrigado Hélio.

Hi,

Thanks for the offer! It would definitely be great to get at least
basic Robot Framework documentation translated. We need to figure out
what's the best way to host different translations and how to keep
them synced, but I'm certain all that's doable. Which documentation
are you most interested to translate in the beginning?

Cheers,
.peke
