Hi All,

I have tried installation of robot framework on MAC. Facing problem while launching RIDE.

Could anyone point me correct installation steps? OR point to any other editor other than RIDE which will work on MAC.

Thank you so much in advance!

Hello,

Install of RIDE on Mac is still a bit problematic.
There are problem around wxPython versions.
As far as I understand, this should be solved once this issue is solved:
https://github.com/robotframework/RIDE/issues/924

There are many other IDE that you can use with Robot Framework.
- Plugins are listed in Robot Framework Web Site
- I wrote a short blog entry on this topic that might help you.

Hope this helps,
Laurent

Or if u want to convert your project to Maven as well.

I just want to ask if anyone is still having problems with installing RobotFramework on their Mac?

I've installed Python but the biggest issue is the wxPython. Every instance I've found is damaged and I'm frustrated because I want to run Robotframwework scripts but don't know how without wxPython.

First, if you want to install robotframework, you do not neet wxPython. Only if you want to install RIDE (an IDE for robotframework files) you need wxPython.

There are known difficulties when installing wxPython on MacOS. The "Every instance I've found is damaged" problem is a wrong message from MacOS. It is the security manager of the system that causes this, the possible workaround is to unpack the package to a folder and to relax the security settings to the installer.

Try to search the instructions for this, and see the notes on the project Wiki (there may be some outdated info for the newer MacOS versions).

Good luck.

You don't need wxPython to run robot scripts. You only need it if you are going to use RIDE, and there are many ways to edit robot scripts without RIDE. See here for a list of editors that supports robot: http://robotframework.org/#tools (click on the "Editors" tab)

Ugh

wxPython is mostly used by RIDE, but wxPython is not a requirement for Robot Framework. And therefore you can run test without installing wxPython.

The test execution is explained in the user guide: http://robotframework.org/robotframework/latest/RobotFrameworkUserGuide.html#executing-test-cases

Had the same issue and gave up, ended up using PyCharm instead.

Oh that's why!

Thank you I'll try to use a different editor then! Hoping for the best!
