Hi,

I am planning to switch my complete framework from Windows to Linux based as I am facing a lot of issues when I am trying to run the scripts in bulk/batch.

Hence, Could you please suggest which is the best option to go from the below Linux based environment since Spirent HLTAPI support is available only in the below versions.
  1. Ubutu18.04 64 bit
  2. Centos 7.1 x86_64
My requirement on Robot framework is
  1. SSH Library
  2. Selenium Library
  3. Interact with Jenkins
  4. Update reports (Not now, but in near future)
Please also suggest which version of Robot Framework should I go and which version of python should i install in the machines.

Thanks
Sreeram

Hi Sreeram,

I will qualify my answer with i have never used Centos, though I have used a variety of linux distributions including Ubuntu.

From my experience in using robot framework on various distributions is that it doesn't really matter which one you use as the libraries are installed via pip.

Given that there is no licensing cost in installing either, I would suggest taking 2 machines or virtual machines, install both os's (one on each machine) and try them both for a week and then choose whichever one works best for you and your team as both os's are well supported by their respective communities.

Dave.
