Hello, Robots!

This is a long awaited release with awesome new features like the SKIP
status and native IF/ELSE support and enhancements to, for example,
Libdoc and argument conversion. For more details about everything
that's new, as well as for information you need to take into account
when upgrading, see the release notes:
https://github.com/robotframework/robotframework/blob/master/doc/releasenotes/rf-4.0.rst

Big thanks to Robot Framework Foundation
<https://robotframework.org/foundation/> and its close to 50 member
companies for sponsoring this release. If you want to make sure the
development speed stays steady or even gets faster, try to get your
organization to join the foundation as well!

In addition to me the Robot Framework 4.0 core team contained Mikko
Korpela, Janne Härkönen and René Rohner. Their participation was made
possible by separate sponsorship by RoboCorp <https://robocorp.com/>
and imbus <https://www.imbus.de/en/> so big thanks to them too! Thanks
also all the community members who have provided pull requests, tested
pre-releases, or otherwise helped to make RF 4.0 such a great release!

Robot Framework 4.0 was released just in time for the RoboCon 2021
online conference organized next week, and I will talk about the key
features in the opening keynote. For more information about the
conference, including a link to the ticket shop, see
https://robocon.io.

Thanks all and hopefully RF 4.0 works great for you!

Cheers,
.peke

Hi Pekka!

I'm wondering - will there be an update of tidy script so it automatically format all "IFs" to the newest standard? It was done when we have introduced new "FOR" format :)

Best regards,
Stefania

Aloha Howdy.

I just last week tinkered with some things with RF-4.0 and was more than impressed with the potential. Just tonight ( its late ) as I was gearing down I stumbled across an interesting Project http://gps.biocuckoo.cn/contact.php which when it was in full swing was pretty neat stuff; and still is if brought up to speed. Which reminded me of another neat Project working to find cures to diseases in an innovative way https://foldingathome.org which has a ton of Sponsors and Current. So I contacted the Biocuckoo gang and am trying to stoke that end up to get onboard the Folding@Home Project in the hopes it can speed up things even more. And so now as I am trying to get un-excited I am having flashbacks of RF-4.0  & all the Jupyter Super Powers available there.

On my end I rarely use any of the Software I taste test. I just set up machines and environments for folks to be able to do whatever they need to do, and get the gist of Software so I can point folks in a direction or another. I may have had a bad batch of Coffee but am all excited about the idea of what if one of the real Robot Framework Masters souped up the Folding@Home Project it would be so cool to be able to watch Proteins and things being invented at warp speed folks would probably buy my Pop Corn at the Matinees where folks could go late nights to watch on the Big Screen Proteins being made. What do y'all think? Just curious.

Cheers & Good Night :-)

The whole XEUS Ecosystem is awe inspiring. Almost made me think about getting a real job. Ewe.

Do you mean converting "Run Keyword If" to the new IF/ELSE structures?
That's not supported by the built-in Tidy tool, but there's a new
external Tidy that supports it and is a lot better than the built-in
Tidy in many other ways as well:
https://github.com/MarketSquare/robotframework-tidy/

The built-in Tidy actually had a bug that it removed indentations from
IF/ELSE blocks but it was fixed in RF 4.0.1 that was just released.
