Dear Teams and Event Partners,
Welcome to 2021! We are looking forward to this new year with hope and anticipation. This newsletter provides important information on State Championships, so please read carefully and share this information with your teams and community.
Here are the updates:

California State Championships 2021
We have reviewed the options for the 2021 California State Championships, and will run the championships as Remote Skills Only Events with Remote Judging for both VEX IQ Challenge and VEX Robotics Competition. We made this decision with the understanding that health restrictions will continue in the near-term and want to provide as much access as possible for teams wishing to compete at the state championship level. We will post the state championship events at the end of this month and expect all state championship events to take place the weekends of March 6-7 & March 13-14.

State Championship Awards
Awards that qualify for this year's California State Championship events will be uploaded to all qualifying events in late January. Once the local events have their State Championship bids uploaded, teams with qualifying awards will automatically receive an invitation from RobotEvents.com. We thank you for your continued patience with this process. Please note that local competitions, including Skills-only and Skills-only with remote judging events, will receive State Championship qualifying awards based on the Qualifying Criteria.

Live Remote Tournament Events in January
The REC Foundation has developed an interactive remote competition platform over the last several months to allow for Live Remote Tournaments (LRT). These LRT events allow both VIQC and VRC teams to compete in head-to-head competition matches remotely through RobotEvents.com. If your team is interested in competing in these exciting events, please review all of the requirements to participate, especially the technical requirements and the need to have one field and set of game elements per team in the event. These details will be provided on all LRT event pages on RobotEvents.com and roboticseducation.org.

VEX IQ Artemis Exhibition Competition and Events
The Hawaii Space Grant Consortium invites you to join the 2021 VEX IQ Sweet 16, the Artemis STEM Challenge, and a VEX IQ virtual event culminating during National Robotics Week in April 2021. The NASA Artemis program will land the first woman and the next man on the moon, so this is an exciting opportunity to connect robotics learning with 21st century space exploration. Click here to view fliers for details on the competition, video submissions, Girl Powered events and other opportunities. Please note the deadline for the video submissions is January 31st, 2021.
