Since the recent shutdown of BotBeats I've been searching for a game that would do the same and stumbled upon this one.
but i am not sure whether there is an active playerbase and is it on python...

please reach out.
If there is online in this game that would be awesome

With Robocode Tank Royale (the new Robocode platform), you will soon be able to create bots in python:

This is good timing for you, as we are just about to make official release for Python. 😊 Perhaps today, or during the coming week.

Best regards,

Thank you for the news. Robots in Python. This is great!
I currently teach a grad course on AI and have been using Robocode as the environment for a number of years. I will looking to adopt the new version because of Python - which will ease access to PyTorch libraries.

Best regards

You're very welcome, Sarbjit! 😊

Great timing—Robocode Tank Royale v0.34 has just been released, and it’s the first version to officially support Python!
I guess this update will be a game-changer for AI education, especially with easier access to PyTorch and other Python libraries.

The release includes:

  • 🧠 Python support out of the box

  • 🤖 Sample bots to get started quickly

  • 📚 A (hopefully) clean API and online tutorials for students and educators

Given your long-standing use of Robocode in your grad course, this version should fit your needs perfectly.
I’d love to hear how both you and your students respond to the new possibilities! 😊

Also if you encounter issues we need to make adjustment to e.g., the documentation etc.
