After I wanted to download Capital One credit card transactions I was forced to install the latest patches (i.e. R15), but I ran into the problem that as soon as the company file desktop was displayed QB shutdown without warning nor error message. Happened 9 out of 10 times.

I don't recommend to run any supported QBD version on Win 11 or Win 10 Pro for the time being. Can you use the same license key to install Win 10 Home instead? Last week we helped our client buy a $50 Win 10 Home license to run QBD 2021 on Parallels.

when I read not "recommended" it means to me that I probably should not run it in a virtual machine. Recommendation is a suggestion, not a clear message that it does not run or it is not supported when running it on a VM. That would make it very clear that I run QB on my own risk, and there would be no support.

Further, with patch 15 Intuit introduced an "enhanced" bank feature that unfortunately I need for Capital One, where my CC transaction seem to be routed through Intuit. There is a new popup preparing the download of the CC transaction.

When IE11 was discontinued earlier this year, I saw a lot of issues being reported in the community. Most of the problems are about running the supported QBD version on Win 10 Pro. Regarding Win 11, they are slow to patch QBD whenever a new operating system is released in the market. You can install the trial license for QBD 2021 to compare with your existing QBD 2020.

What I would expect from Intuit is, that they provide beta version of QBD for us as well when a new Windows OS is introduced. Some users want to upgrade to a new Windows sooner, thus, their apps need to be tested and run on the new OS as well. I know there are trial versions but I need a bit more time to test everything we use in QB.

I called QB support and spoke to a tech. support person. He was friendly and tried to help, even did a screen share, we ran the above steps again. He did some internal research but did not come up with anything.

Then it was suggested to have my IT guys check my PC (remember my R14 version was running just fine). Then it was suggested to get my company file checked. Next day I talk to the DB tech. support person, but they basically did not find anything either.

I understand why there are lots of negative comments about support in the forum. It really depends on who you get on the phone when calling support. My first experience (long time ago) was very pleasant, the lady did screen share, helped with my issue and everything was resolved. No questions about needing a support contract, nor "did you consider using QBO", nor having your PC checked by IT. She just was helpful and wanted me to be satisfied with her support.

I've run quickbooks on vm's using Linux servers for years, many years, like 20 now. Have had no issues what so ever. Many different versions of Quickbooks, from simple to Enterprise. I use Libvirt, and qemu. I simply create a Windows vm, that runs on libvirt, then remote onto the server and install Quickbooks. Once data is in place, shares created and that's it, users logon to network, map the drive, go to work. Updates, windows or intuit, no issues.

I have Revo'd out any Intuit program which there was only a .net program installed from quickbooks, the program is not / does not get installed. I have manually removed directories that I could find relating to the install, there was little there, found a folder in appdata for instance.

Not real sure what could be going on at this point, any direction would be appreciated. I will look at running an SFC scan to validate the integrity of windows system files as well. This is a new Windows 10 laptop, I don't expect to find issues with Windows itself. It is 100% patched.

In this situation, I had to go to "Turn Windows features on or off" and then tick on .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0). Once I did this, I rebooted the laptop and the installer that was not completing completed the install upon login.

I appreciate the time and advice offered by the poster yesterday. I'm an IT guy and eventually made my way over to checking on this setting, I picked this issue up after the bookkeeper had it and somehow left it in this situation.

I'm here to help. I recommend first getting a fresh install file from this link here. Once installed use the Install Diagnostic Tool, located in the tool hub under Installation Issues. This will check over all the components that work alongside with the QuickBooks program. Run the QuickFix tool after the Install Diagnostic Tool is finished running. This will close down all background processes for QuickBooks. Now that these steps are done, try running the new Installation .exe you downloaded from our first step. If for any reason you get the same error please let me know. I am determined to help you get your software installed and running. I'm only a post away.

I am proceeding forward with the exception of running the Quickfix Tool - I cannot find this tool and at this time do not know what this is. Please reply if you are available and if you could provide a link to the above mentioned tool that would be great. Note I have downloaded and ran the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub for installation errors.

I'm installing Quickbooks and had the same issue. I ticked on the NET framework 3.5 and rebooted, but I'm having the same issue. Is there something else I'm missing. To be clear, I'm not downloading QB Enterprise. I'm downloading QB Premier - Contractor Edition. My install wizard says Quickbooks Financial Software 2019 R7. Don't know if that matters.

None of the posted suggestions worked for me, so this is what I did: Go into Add/Remove Programs, click QuickBooks, and click "Change" option - then do a Repair. Let it do the repair and reboot. Then run QB - it recognizes there is a new version and successfully installed it.
