Boards and Beyond Qbank PDF 2024 is one of the best book for quick review. It is very good book to study a a day before your exam. It can also cover your viva questions and will help you to score very high.

This scenario happens to everyone to some degree as Step 1 nears. And although the panic reaction is understandable, poor performance on practice questions before Step 1 is actually a very good thing in many cases. There are three important reasons not to worry too much about wrong answers to practice questions which I will explain in this post.

Practice questions are not necessarily predictive of Step 1 scores. No valid relationship has ever been established between any practice test and USMLE scores. Some websites offer to translate your practice test scores into Step 1 scores, but these correlations are based on self-reporting by students. This is unreliable and only includes the tiny sliver of students who choose to report their scores. How many in the class ahead of you revealed their scores? How many showed you an authentic score report sheet? Probably not a lot. When so many students keep their scores private, no correlation will be accurate.

Obviously, students who correctly answer practice questions are more likely to correctly answer Step 1 questions, but practice questions are not destiny. I have advised many students over my career. I have seen stellar Step 1 scores by students who performed poorly on QBanks and NBME practice exams. I have also seen underperformance by students who did well on practice tests.

Practice questions are different from exam questions. The NBME publishes guidelines for medical schools to use in writing USMLE board-style questions for classes. You can read them here. The guidelines list common errors in question writing. You will see these mistakes made routinely in many of the available QBanks. For any question you get wrong in a QBank, there is a good chance it was written in a manner unacceptable to the NBME. The content may appear on your exam, but not the question.

The NBME practice tests are more representative of the question style of Step 1. These tests generally do not make writing errors since they are approved by NBME committees and follow the guidelines. But NBME practice questions are retired and will not show up on your exam.

After you answer each question in a Boards and Beyond quiz, make sure you read through the explanation and work to understand the concepts behind each correct and incorrect answer. Later on, you can use the Custom Quiz function to build quizzes out of the questions you have answered incorrectly in the past, including questions from as many or as few sections as your study plan calls for.

The bottom line is this: Any practice question you get wrong is unlikely to be repeated exactly on your exam. The key is to remember the concepts from questions you use for practice. And when you answer incorrectly, concepts are more likely to stick.

Boards & Beyond, published by McGraw-Hill, is a learning resource for medical students. Its purpose is to supplement classroom and textbook learning, and to help students prepare for the board exams they will take in medical school. For the purposes of writing this review, I was granted free trial access to Boards & Beyond.

In a few cases, category and even subcategory titles may be the same between parts, but the material itself does not overlap. For instance, both Step 1 Preclinical and Step 2-3 Clinical include a Cardiology category, but most of the subcategories differ. Both have a subcategory for Arrhythmias, but the videos and question banks in the two are not the same.

The videos contain lectures by Dr. Ryan with slides, which consist of printed text and illustrations which he marks to emphasize or further illustrate certain points. The questions are designed to resemble USMLE or COMLEX-USA questions. They are multiple-choice, and can be answered in two modes: timed or tutored. The tutored mode provides explanations for all answers, correct or incorrect, which helps students learn where they went wrong.

Users can watch the videos at various speeds, with or without closed captioning, and videos can be linked in user-created playlists. Users can also create custom quizzes using questions from any number of different quizzes. For instance, learners may want to create a quiz incorporating both cardiology and pulmonary questions, only new or already-answered questions, or any combination thereof.

Further integration with other resources could be an enhancement. For example, McGraw Hill offers plenty of medical resources in its AccessMedicine collections, which may be appropriate to integrate. Since it is a fairly new purchase for them, we may expect such enhancements to come along.

The search tool should be improved, at least to the point of enabling phrase searches and/or Boolean searches. An app would also be a good feature to develop. When I used Boards & Beyond at home on an iPad or iPhone, I encountered some performance issues absent with the more robust connectivity at the workplace. Besides videos stalling, I also found myself having to adjust the volume frequently within a video, which did not occur when using it on the PC at work. Also, one has to work a bit to keep the content in frame on a smaller screen.

Boards & Beyond is available through individual or institutional subscriptions for up to two years. Individual subscriptions can be as short as one week. Group discounts are available for students whose institution does not subscribe. Institutional licenses may last from 12-24 months. Institutions also receive a discounted price, based on the number of students and class cohorts.
