Can you believe I get a message from Heather Froeschl of the Roanoke
Times after I asked if she got the book, Smoke and murders.

Doug,
Yes, and it was given to a reviewer who unfortunately did not have
praise for it. I'm sorry but we won't be running a review for you.
Heather

Do they just put books in that "pass" the review?
I thought that was what a book review was all about. Someone reviewing
it and say whether it is good or it stinks.
I wrote back.

I'm not sensative. Put it in anyway. Other people have praised it. May
give some balance. That's what reviews are for.

Doug

I think they aren't going to mention anything about me except my
obituary. Mainly because I claim the "reporters" are third string
hacks. Mike Hudson being a prime example when he did the "facts" piece
on the Hodges murders and put things in that no one could have
possibly overheard. Conversations that never happened. He is no longer
with them, out making up stuff on others, I imagine.
If there is ever a newspaper that should suffer the Big One its the
Roanoke Times (Grit). Most places call papers like theirs Pennysavers.
