Hello RATC leadership, McAfee Knob Task Force, A.T. partners, and assorted local luminaries of outdoor recreation,

Please help me get the word out that the Appalachian Trail Conservancy is hiring a Catawba Mountain Ridgerunner!

This is a seasonal position, but it's a long season: April thru mid-November. The Ridgerunner is a key component of how we collectively protect and steward the beloved "Virginia Triple Crown" section of the A.T. (Dragons Tooth, McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs). In the past we've found outstanding candidates from within our local community, and I'm hoping that will happen again (with your help).

And you can also find your way there from this much simpler url: https://appalachiantrail.org/careers

A blurb you're welcome to copy/paste:

The ATC is hiring a Catawba Mountain Ridgerunner! From April thru mid-November, this seasonal position patrols the popular "Virginia Triple Crown" section of the Appalachian Trail near Roanoke, VA. Ridgerunners protect the world-famous trail and iconic landmarks like McAfee Knob through visitor education, weekly reports to management partners, data collection, and minor trail/facility maintenance. The Catawba Mountain Ridgerunner also coordinates and supports a vibrant group of Volunteer Ridgerunners from the Roanoke A.T. Club. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience living in the backcountry are essential. Find out more at https://appalachiantrail.org/careers

I'm happy to answer questions about this position: see my contact info below. Thank you!

Kathryn
