Update and reminder for Sudan Shriners Visit

Dear Merchants and Property Owners,

As you know by now, the Sudan Shriners will hold their Fall Ceremonial in Roanoke Rapids November 14 – 16, 2013, we anticipate some of our visitors will be arriving earlier than Nov 14.  The estimated numbers are 1200 or more visitors that will be in our area during this time. 

 

This is a great opportunity to welcome them to our Historic Avenue Business District.  Many of the activities will be held at Kirkwood Adams as well as several busses will transport our visitors to various locations throughout the community.  We hope to have many people in the Business District during this time, which means the potential to increase traffic and sales for your businesses.  I encourage to consider adjusting your hours of operation to accommodate them.  See the times listed below when we “know” they will have the opportunity to visit the Avenue.

                Parade steps off @ 13th Street and Roanoke Avenue

 

 

I will continue to provide updates as they are available, but in the meantime please note the wives will have opportunities to shop during most of Friday and Saturday.  On Saturday, they will hold a parade that will step off at noon from 13th Street and conclude at 5th Street.  We understand the parade will be large and include 40+ units.  Of course, the streets will be closed for this period, so keep this in mind for your business hours on Saturday (Nov. 16).  Also, please consider the increased traffic on the Avenue could generate business for you as well.

 

We are working with the Halifax County Convention and Visitors Bureau to provide “goodie bags” for the Shriners.  Please consider contributing a coupon, special sale or offer to be included in the bags.  We anticipate filling approximately 1200 bags.  If you wish to participate and provide coupons for your business, please let me know as I need them by the end of next week (no later than Friday, November 1)!
