Dear Main Street Supporters,
Do you want to see more businesses open in the Historic Avenue Business District? Would you enjoy more restaurants, shopping opportunities, fun activities, improved lighting, perhaps building facades improved? How can you help, you might say? You can make a difference by making a donation to the Roanoke Rapids Main Street Program.
Did you know over the past year, the Roanoke Rapids Main Street Program has seen 21 businesses open their doors in the Historic Avenue District, 7 new façade improvements and a total investment of $476,655 in Public/Private dollars? We have accumulated over 1,500 volunteer hours representing the efforts of our hard working board of directors, committee members and volunteers. 53% of all business use permits for the City of Roanoke Rapids were issued in the Historic Avenue Business District. This represents an increase of 19% since our program began just under four years ago!
Additional successes include securing funding for our Façade Program that will support new paint and awning improvements. We added six new art panels to cover unsightly boarded windows in two of our building’s upper floor windows. We are currently developing a map of the district that will guide visitors to our businesses and attractions. Our logo, farmers market, banners and FRIDAYS IN THE PARK music series are also included in our accomplishments this year.
