The problem I noticed w/ the essential is that I was hoping to use my Explorer 2 to get a full decode when attached to my phone via the USB port - during playback w/ tidal directly I only to seem to get the white 24/96 lighting up on the dac. Playing via Roon to my phone as an endpoint, only one light lights up - I wonder if that is related to downgrade of the signal when android is an endpoint like you mention ? (I was hoping to use roon as a workaround to pass the MQA-tagged audio to my explorer)
Also - a quick observation after trying same thing as OP with my own android phone, oreo, plus LDAC headphones and Tidal MQA - I also see it downsampling from 24 to 16 bit. This happens even if I go into Audio settings for my android phone, advanced settings, and up to 24 bit support.
Ive noticed /e/ rom is the only rom that has oreo recents running on android 11. Ive been dying to get hold of that feature since it was removed in android 10. How was this even added into this rom? How could one get oreo recents on other roms running android 10+?
The Recents screen (also referred to as the Overview screen, recent task list, or recent apps) is a system-level UI that lists recently accessed activities and tasks . The user can navigate through the list and select a task to resume, or the user...
I know this might sound insane /e/ with gapps, what kind of a psychopath would even try to do that.
But the thing is that its the only rom with oreo recents and ive been dying to be able to use oreo recents since it was removed in android 10. But i cant give up google apps. So the only options would be to use /e/ and somehow get gapps on it or somehow get oreo recents on some other android 10+ GSI.
If anyone knows how to get oreo recents on other android 10+ GSIs as well then hit me up please, as there simply isnt enough documentation regarding that.
by oreo recents i mean the recents menu being exactly the same as it was in android oreo with apps stacked on top of each other and being much compact and easier to use. android 9+ recents menu is just horrible. ive used lineage as well, it isnt included in lineage either. there has to be sth added to /e/ specifically.
GAPPS will not work on /e/OS. We have spent considerable time and resources removing Google calling home code from the source. That means that applications which require the entire Google code base running in the background will fail on /e/. If you absolutely need these applications then you should think of using some other custom ROM available on XDA
Im genuinely interested in it and would like to know how it was done. I cant stand android 9+ apple style recents and since my phone shipped with android 10 then there is no seemingly no other way of getting oreo recents on it other than using /e/. But i cant give up gapps and since /e/ doesnt allow that then im at crossroads. I would like to learn how to port it into other roms or if necessary even make my own rom.
F-Droid is an installable catalogue of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy to browse, install, and keep track of updates on your device.
On the other hand, because I'm not very familiar with the oreo, could anyone please tell me what's new if compared to the previous system. Its just that I've been using it for a couple of days now, after installing the upgrade, however, and apart from a few changes in graphics (like the icon for settings or a few tiny changes to the drop-down menu from the main screen, for instance) .
I couldn't find a specific answer for the Sony versions of Oreo so, even if you could point me out to some article online that describes only the new features of Sony's Oreo for the Xa1-ultra, I'd greatly appreciate it!
I'd be happy to fill you in on what I know. I'm still waiting for my Oreo update on my Xperia XA1 Ultra, I'm expecting it because I'm having a camera issue on Nougat. I'm now using an XZ Premium which has Oreo and I've played with the XA2 Ultra which has Oreo. So I have some idea of what changes will happen and a few visual screenshots.
They expanded Xperia Actions; Nougat has 3, to Oreo with 5. Adding commute and optimizing Gaming settings. They took out 'Blue Light' / "Night Light" in "Good Night Mode" (which is to prevent eye strain and insomnia) checkbox option out of Oreo though... Supposedly it's going to be placed in screen settings, see the picture of the Xperia XZ2 below.
aTalk starts failing in network re-connection attempts when my Samsung Note 8 OS was recently being upgraded to Oreo (android 8.0). The problem appears to happen only when aTalk is running in background. Connection is still OK during launch and is able to connect to the server. The log is captured below while atalk is in background mode:
You do want to declare a dependency to minidns-android21, create an instance of AndroidUsingLinkProperties and register it as DNS server lookup mechanism. But be aware, it looks like AndroidUsingLinkProperties constructor has errornously only protected visibility (this is likely going to change in newer MiniDNS versions).
Not sure I have done it correctly, I init the Resolver with the above two files using DNSClient.addDnsServerLookupMechanism during aTalk startup stage, and not when setting up xmppConnection. With this, I see at least android does not throw aTalk out and ReconnectionManager can proceed successfully.
However android 8 also turns off all network access during device standby. The ReconnectionManager actually get triggered only at the time when aTalk is sending keep alive ping. So on android 8 device, aTalk is unable to receive any message while the device is in standby mode. I need to find a way how to resolve this as well.
