Dear Interested and Affected Party
Gatesville and Quarterdeck Road residents were asked to vote on the proposed way forward regarding increased traffic volumes along Anderson/Gatesville/Upper Quarterdeck and Quarterdeck Roads. The following options were put forward by the project team.
Option 1: Install a stop-go system at a cost of R300 000 which will take 4 weeks to install and will also require trenching in order to lay the cabling.
Option 2: Install a fixed camera at a cost of approximately R60 000 which would be able to record traffic data such a speed and volume but would not be able to issue fines on Quarterdeck road.
Option 3: Install a fixed camera at a cost of approximately R60 000 which would be able to record traffic data such a speed and volume but would not be able to issue fines on Gatesville road.
Option 4: Leave the situation as is due to the fact that the road will be opened again in approximately 8 weeks’ time.
Residents submitted their votes and the results are as follows:
· 29 Votes received in total
· 1 x vote for Option 1
· 1 x vote for Option 3
· 27 Votes for Option 4
As such, it has been agreed that the current traffic calming measures are sufficient and will remain in place. Main Road will be open to two-way traffic up to Clairvaux Road in approximately 8 weeks’ time.
Kind regards
