Can you confirm to me so that I can pass it on to the 120 or so people who are on the petition that as our Councillor what you have sent is to be your input and contribution to resolving what is a very real problem.

Sorry that I have not responded sooner but I have hardly been home. I have now had time to study your correspondence and respond as follows.

I am not an expert on traffic matters and have viewed the site on 2 occasions. Having read all the studies the City engineers have done I must accept their findings that we do not close this area. At the last meeting on the Main Road upgrade between engineers and the public held in Kalk Bay the “rat running” was the subject a of extensive debate between the engineers and residents. The conclusion was that the City would install temporary speed humps and this was agreed to by all concerned. The City has done this.

The community has been extremely longsuffering over the roadworks. People have and are being inconvenienced and if we can just be patient until the Main Road reaches Clairvaux Road in the next few months the problem will disappear and normality will return
