microsoft cleanup tool just removes the msi installer and also the related registry keys. But if you want to delete a registry key the best thing it to export it first by selecting it then file, export and save it on a place so you can import it later. But don't mess with the registry because this is the heart of a computer. Your computer couldn't start if you delete too many entries.
2) Run it, click "Next", click "Uninstalling", Choose "Not-Listed", "Next"...
For every MSI ID in the form 46E11E7F-.... that the vmware-tools installer complains about, copy/paste the ID from the dialog into the Troubleshooter's field and click "Next".
"While the Windows Installer Cleanup utility resolved some installation problems, it sometimes damaged other components installed on the computer. Because of this, the tool has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center."
It also appears that the link to the cleanup utility was disabled. So where did you get the utility you mention in your previous post. Did you click on one of the buttons for the Microsoft Fix It utilities listed further down the page? If so, which one?
