Hei,
Olemme sunnittelemassa keliennustepalvelun version 2 datan jakamista Digitraffic-rajapinnassa. Uudessa versiossa segmentteihin jaetun tieverkon resoluutio on korkeampi kuin aiemmassa.
Merkittävimmät eroavaisuudet aiempaan versioon:
  • Ennustepisteitä on enemmän kuin ennen, noin 9500 kpl. Versiossa 1 on 277 ennustepistettä.
  • Ennustepistettä vastaavat tiet esitetään MultiLineStringinä. Versiossa 1 tiet esitetään LineString-muodossa.

Hi,

We are planning to share road conditions version 2 data on Digitraffic API. The new version provides higher resolution for road segments.

The most significant differences are:
  • The new version has about 9500 forecast points whereas version 1 has 277.
  • Forecast points are presented as MultiLineString. In version 1 forecast points are presented as LineString.

Hei,

Jos data jaetaan rajapinnasta kahtena isona palana (tiet, keliennusteet), vastauksen koko voi olla esimerkiksi mobiililaitteita ajatellen haastava. Otetaan vastaan ehdotuksia miten tulosjoukkoa voisi rajoittaa (esim. spatiaalisesti).

--

Hi,

If data is shared in two big pieces (roads, road conditions) the size of the returned result might be challenging for mobile devices and such. Feel free to give any recommendations on how to limit the result size (spatially e.g.)

Hei,

Keliennusteet v2 rajapinta on nyt testattavana beta-rajapinnassa osoitteessa https://tie-test.digitraffic.fi/api/v1/metadata/documentation/swagger-ui.html

Hi,

Road conditions v2 API is now available for testing at beta API https://tie-test.digitraffic.fi/api/v1/metadata/documentation/swagger-ui.html

Hei,

ajattelimme julkaista Keliennusteet v2 ensi viikolla ja siirtää sen pois BETA-rajapinnasta. Onko kenelläkään viimehetken parannusehdotuksia?

Hi, we are planing to publish Road conditions v2 at production api and remove it from BETA. Does anybody has any last minute suggestions for improvements?

Hi.
I am interested about using your data for weather forecast, mainly precipitation.
Your API can return 6 conditions for precipitation:
precipitationCondition (stringoptional) = ['NO_RAIN_DRY_WEATHER', 'LIGHT_RAIN', 'RAIN', 'HEAVY_RAIN', 'LIGHT_SNOWFALL', 'SNOWFALL', 'HEAVY_SNOWFALL'],
I need weather forecast for Jokela Town for a master thesis. There are two segments of a road from your V2 API located quite close to this town: [00045_009_00000_0_0, 00045_010_00000_0_0]
Map attached.
Question 1: Do you have more information available about which forecast model is being used i.e. Harmonie/hirlam? Basically, where do the forecasted values come from?
Question 2: What would be the real values related to these string conditions i.e. LIGHT_RAIN = 4 mm, HEAVY_RAIN = 20 mm ?

Thanks in advance for your help and congratulations for the nice API.

Hi,

thanks for you interesting question. We will ask this from our data supplier. Data is anyways coming from Foreca https://www.foreca.fi/

Hi,

we got the answers.

Question 1: Do you have more information available about which forecast model is being used i.e. Harmonie/hirlam? Basically, where do the forecasted values come from?

Forecast that is used is Foreca’s weather forecast which is initialised from the weather model that performs best for Finland for a period under study. Majority of the times the initialisation is done from ECMWF model data. Then Foreca meteorologists also manually edit the data to fix certain known errors in the model.

Question 2: What would be the real values related to these string conditions i.e. LIGHT_RAIN = 4 mm, HEAVY_RAIN = 20 mm ?

PrecipitationCondition can actually get the values 0 - 7 as follows:
0 = no data available
1= rain intensity < 0.2 mm/h (NO_RAIN_DRY_WEATHER)
2= rain intensity >= 0.2 mm/h (LIGHT_RAIN)
3= rain intensity >= 2.5 mm/h (RAIN)
4= rain intensity >= 7.6 mm/h (HEAVY_RAIN)
5= snowing intensity >= 0.2 cm/h (LIGHT_SNOWFALL)
6= snowing intensity >= 1 cm/h (SNOWFALL)
7= snowing intensity >= 3 cm/h (HEAVY_SNOWFALL)

We will also add this info to our documentation later.
