roadblock will be an embedded firewall that will use FreeBSD-6.2-
RELEASE, Python, and Cherokee. During some information gathering
today, it looks like there isn't much in the embedded space of
Python. My goal for version 0.1 of roadblock is to getting FreeBSD,
Python and Cherokee running in harmony and doing some basic router
features such as nat, dhcp and a firewall on a net4501 and a 64mb CF
card. Well, I took a quick look at a Python build I did a little
while and it weighed in at 55 MB. I probably could do a ton of
optimizations, but I would like to get it down to something much
smaller. Cherokee has been my favorite webserver to play and hack
around with. I still don't use it in a production environment, but
will soon once I complete some more specific features I would need.
Cherokee has been designed from the ground up with an embedded profile
in mind.
I am looking for developers! If you find this project interesting you
should let me know in this discussion thread. Let me know what you
think about this. I'll be honest and say that I am not extremely
knowledgable in this area, but have good ideas and abilities to learn
how to implement them. Therefore correct me when I say something
wrong ;)
