I'm trying to develop a road trip from the midwest through Colorado and California.  I won't be taking the trip until this summer.  Since Road Trip Planner uses real-time Apple Maps, it won't allow me to map across Rocky Mountain Park or into Yosemite because of current snow conditions.  Is there any way to bypass this situation or do I have to wait for the snow to melt and the roads open up?

Unfortunately you have to wait until the roads open.  Other RTP users here may have other suggestions. Any comments from other users?

I also suggest you contact Apple and provide feedback about this. The more people who comment the faster they might change things:

Bill,

I took your suggestion and sent a comment/suggestion to Apple to add a feature to allow overriding current road conditions for future planning purposes.  Maybe something will come of it.

Gary,

I believe the more people that make the suggestion the more likely it’ll happen. I think MapQuest and Google already have the option of ignoring road closures. However, Apple has added some features to their maps but they don’t allow developers access to the feature, so that may be another hurdle to cross if this feature gets implemented.

22 04 .01  19:45 DST ≠ April 1st 2022..  🤙🏽.  Yeah  ßill. The snow will be gone by then. Then there's the wildfires that cut things off, too .✅. They do •
Apple ® has been behind the curve on many things since   ..lol . . forever .  The Apple // was - c o l o r - 8 bit and the Mac + was 16 bit byte greyscale (right?)  . lol...be that as it may.  Google ® Maps ® is superior in many ways to Apple ®'s maps (still) https://developer.apple.com/maps/ since the beginning and probably since Google ® Earth ® first came out.  Apple ® can't be every thing to  every body every where all the time.  Apple ® is still basically still a software \ design studio (think of all the fonts !).  Berklee BSD ® still works fairly well as a Mac OS.  Thank goodness some one licensed it from Bell Telephone ® back in 1984 about the time PC-DOS became MS-DOS.    Samsung ® had a Dick Tracy type watch in 1999 long before we got Apple ® watch ® (they r e a l l y did).  The iPad® ?  Remember the jokes about that  ? i just bought my daughter one the other day for her work •  https://www.ultimatecampgrounds.com/ was a valient effort to merge GPS with all those myriad waypoints , Bill , but anything GPS  is still stymied by national security concerns here in the USA, it seems .  We don't want the Russians to shove missles down our silos although the Patriot ® anti-missle (& illegal) missle is based on IBM XT 1980  technology (it is)
I take trains when the weather gets rough because i like them , it's a hobby, & for the photography, meeting people, i don't have to drive , etc., and they are better for the environment.
i also ride a mountain bike . . and am always looking for the latest bike trails and shortcuts through the use of programs and applications such  as   https://www.alltrails.com  and https://asm.transitdocs.com/map or   https://www.gaiagps.com/map/   and most US States  use 411 from cellphones to garner the latest highway conditions  ahead of you.  The last time i drove through Colorado they had big signs saying " Don't call the Fire Dept. The fire is in Nevada."   😜.  . 😷.
Google®  maps maps bike routes now •   Mapquest ® is STILL pretty darn good for the USA  √  There's always more than one way to skin a cat  •

Can you have a setting that tells apple maps to use the date the trip starts via the "plan" option in Apple Maps

RTP doesn’t have a ‘plan’ option but you can set the departure date.
